Leave it to Rihanna to give Us the makeup look of the summer. The beauty mogul was in Paris for Virgil Abloh’s debut Louis Vuitton menswear presentation on Thursday, June 22, where she swapped out her usual black eyeliner for a bright white cat eye that, in addition to providing major warm-weather beauty inspo, may have also been a sneak peek at an upcoming Fenty Beauty launch.
A super fresh take on the classic feline flick, Rihanna’s graphic white winged situation perfectly matched her pristinely monochrome jumpsuit, heel and handbag ensemble. While we’ve seen RiRi sport seriously glam looks as of late, her dewy makeup and single pop of color (yes, white is a color) is summertime beauty #goals.
On the Fenty Beauty Instagram, the brand shared that Rihanna’s go-to makeup artist Pricilla Ono first primed the songstress’ skin with the Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Primer to eliminate shine before applying the recently re-stocked Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation in 340 all over the face.
The pro then sculpted RiRi’s sky-high cheekbones with the Match Stix Matte Skinstick in Mocha (a few shades deeper than her natural skin tone) and added a rosy flush to the cheeks with the Match Stix Shimmer Skinstick in Yacht Lyfe. When it came to creating that just-back-from-the-beach glow, Ono applied the Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter in Hustla Baby (a shimmering champagne) to the high-points of the face. The brand also shared that the Invisimatte Blotting Powder was used set the look, but fans were quick to point out that there was no mention of the eyeliner Ono employed for that fierce cat eye.
Seeing as RiRi has teased many a Fenty Beauty launch on the red carpet (here’s looking at you, Killawatt Foils at the 2017 Met Gala — a full year before they hit stores!), we wouldn’t be surprised if there are eyeliners or shadows in the pipeline. In fact, Rihanna sported a sexy metallic eye and lip look at the Ocean’s 8 premiere in NYC earlier this month that the brand told Us to stay tuned for more info on. Could the white liner join the lust-worthy shimmer shades as part of a super secret launch? Only time will tell.
Regardless of if/when all the newness arrives, there is no denying the eye-opening and super cool effect of swapping out traditional onyx and brown eyeliners for a much brighter shade. And while the bold cat eye is a perfect update for summer, a white liner is equally impactful when used to define the upper lashes or fill in the waterline.
