The Below Deck franchise cast has largely chosen not to publicly weigh in on Nathan Gallagher‘s arrest for domestic violence.
Nathan was introduced to audiences when he joined Below Deck Mediterranean in season 9 in 2024. He quickly formed a bond with Gael Cameron, who was in a relationship at the time. Nathan and Gael ultimately explored their connection and dated off and on before she welcomed their first child, Kayden, in June 2025.
In 2026, season 11 followed Nathan’s attempt to balance fatherhood — with Gael living near the dock — and his career. Off screen, news broke in August 2026 that Nathan had been arrested on domestic violence charges in Australia in December 2025 for an alleged incident with an unidentified 29-year-old woman.
Nathan was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, intentionally choking a person without consent and common assault. He was eventually granted conditional bail before being convicted on three counts of domestic violence after failing to appear in court.
“I’m not claiming I was perfect. I wasn’t. I made mistakes, and I will take responsibility for my own actions,” Nathan told Rolling Stone in an August 2026 statement. “I will not accept being portrayed solely through one account of a relationship when there is another side and evidence relating to it. I have contemporaneous video footage from the night in question, as well as messages and other records, which I believe provide important context.”
Us confirmed at the time that Nathan is the subject of an Apprehended Violence Application that was filed on Gael’s behalf in New South Wales. Bravo, meanwhile, fired Nathan in light of his domestic violence arrest.
Nathan’s former cast members — and other stars of the Below Deck franchise — found subtle ways to sound off on his legal issues while showing support for Gael.

Gael Cameron
Gael addressed the pair’s tumultuous relationship in a September 2026 statement, which read, “Hey guys, I just want to say thank you so much for the support you’ve shown for Kayden and I. It’s been a tough season, but I have been using the past few months to quietly heal and rebuild for little man [Kayden] and myself.”
She continued: “I really appreciate the love you have sent our way, especially while everything that’s come to light, and I’m really working on finding myself again and moving forward.”
Aesha Scott
“Can people please give Gael some GRACE!?” Aesha wrote via her Instagram Story in September 2026. “That poor woman has been through hell and back the last two years, a hell most of you attacking her from your high horse at home have no real idea about. During this time she was being fed so many lies day after day, she didn’t really understand what was going on in so many different areas.”
Aesha added, “I will always stand by her side, because she is one of the most beautiful souls I have ever come across in my lifetime. And yes, I know she went to Croatia and agreed to go onto a public forum where people watch and have opinions, but again, you all have no clue what steps led to that and followed that. Please be kind.”
Chef Joy Lefaucheur
Joy subtly addressed Nathan’s legal issues by cropping him out — and crossing out his face — in photos posted from season 11.
Hannah Ferrier
The former Below Deck Med star, who made a brief appearance in season 11, also cut Nathan out when uploading photos from her time on Akira One.
Joe Bradley
Similar to Joy and Hannah, Joe made a pointed decision to cut Nathan out of any photos he shared. Joe also reposted Aesha’s statement, which showed support for Gael amid offscreen criticism.
Ben Willoughby and Kyle Stillie
After news broke about Nathan’s arrest, Ben posted an Instagram video in which he criticized how the hit Bravo show has been casting the crew. In the comments section, Kyle reflected on his own experience as a newcomer.
“You know when I walked on your season lad I’d never even seen a yacht, let alone been on one,” he wrote in September 2026. “Casting flew me to Miami for my Stcw and then straight to Grenada to start filming and while filming production consistently encouraged us to be ‘larger than life’ because ‘this isn’t yachting, this is below deck.’ Controversy is exactly what they’re looking for no?”
