Josh Hartnett

Josh Hartnett (born Joshua Daniel Hartnett) is an American actor best known for his breakout roles in Pearl Harbor, Black Hawk Down and The Faculty. Hartnett was born in Saint Paul, Minnesota, and raised primarily by his father and stepmother. He attended Minneapolis South High School, where he played football before a knee injury shifted his focus to acting. After graduating, he briefly attended SUNY Purchase in New York to study acting before leaving to pursue a career in acting full-time.

Hartnett began acting in the late 1990s with a role on the TV series Cracker. He quickly emerged as one of Hollywood’s most in-demand young stars thanks to films including Halloween H20: 20 Years Later (1998), The Faculty (1998) and The Virgin Suicides (1999). His profile rose even further in 2001 with starring roles in Pearl Harbor and Black Hawk Down, establishing him as a leading man during the early 2000s.

Over the years, Hartnett has appeared in projects including 40 Days and 40 Nights (2002), Wicker Park (2004), Sin City (2005), Lucky Number Slevin (2006), 30 Days of Night (2007) and Oppenheimer (2023). On television, he’s appeared in shows such as Penny Dreadful, Black Mirror, The Bear, Oppenheimer and Die Hart. As part of the ensemble cast of Oppenheimer, he received a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture.

Hartnett previously dated stars like Julia Stiles, Scarlett Johansson and Amanda Seyfried. He began a relationship with English actress Tamsin Egerton in 2012 after meeting on the set of The Lovers. The couple married in 2021 and share four children.
