About

The younger brother of Backstreet Boys member Nick Carter, Aaron Carter rose to fame as a teen pop singer in the late 1990s. Following the release of his self-titled album in 1998, Aaron made waves with hits such as “Aaron’s Party (Come and Get It)” and “I Want Candy.”

Aaron appeared on shows including Lizzie McGuire and 7th Heaven, as well as his family’s 2006 E! reality show, House of Carters, which starred Nick, Aaron, Bobbie Jean, Angel and Leslie Carter. Aaron also competed on Dancing With the Stars in 2009, placing in fifth with his pro partner, Karina Smirnoff.

The performer dated Hilary Duff and Lindsay Lohan in the early 2000s before proposing to model Kari Ann Peniche in 2006. Their engagement lasted only six days before they split. Aaron dated Madison Parker from 2016 to 2017 and Lina Valentina from 2018 to 2019 before moving on with Melanie Martin. Aaron proposed to Martin in June 2020, and the couple welcomed son Prince in November 2021. They called it quits in 2022.

Aaron was open about his struggles with drug abuse through the years. He was arrested for possession of marijuana several times and admitted to using benzodiazepines and opiates. He completed a stint at a rehabilitation center in 2017. On November 5, 2022, Carter was found dead at his California home, with his official cause of death ruled as drowning due to the effects of difluoroethane and alprazolam. His sixth and final album, Blacklisted, was released posthumously two days after his death.
