Footage from a 2005 MTV concert where Kanye West performed his hit "Hey Mama" provides some insight into their close-knit relationship.
Donda — who died Saturday at 58 after a breast reduction and tummy tuck — had raised the rapper alone since he was 3. And he declared how much she meant to him in front of thousands of fans at the show two years ago.
“I wrote this song just so you know, no matter where you go, I love you so," he rapped as Donda bounced her head and mouthed the words.
When he declared, “Come on, mommy, just dance with me,” they joined hands and swayed together. Donda even rapped a few lines of the song.
“Make some noise for my momma!” he told the crowd, as Donda flashed thumbs up sign to the audience.
