Despite reports, Lauren Conrad and Whitney Port weren't given the pink slip by Teen Vogue.
"I just thought it was time for them to try something new," Editor-In-Chief Amy Astley told Usmagazine.com at the Ralph Lauren fall fashion show this morning. "An internship is a short thing, and I just felt it was time for them to move on a little bit."
Women's Wear Daily had reported the magazine decided to part ways with the MTV reality show because of the girls' wild lifestyles of clubbing, making out and feuding.
"I think that’s really why Teen Vogue had had their moment with them — it went into another zone," their boss, editor Lisa Love, told Us.
Asked if the show is scripted, Love replied, "I think why they say all that is because there’s so much editing.
"They shoot reality and somehow it’s changed in the editing room to appeal to things, I don’t know," she said. "I’ve never watched the show.
"They were great interns in the beginning," Love added of Conrad and Port, "and then it’s time for interns to go some place else, right?"
Seems like Conrad has already moved on. She recently unveiled her new clothing line, the Lauren Conrad Collection.
What does Love think of her designs?
"I think it’s more T-shirt kind of things and jeans, very simple basics."
Still, she said the duds could "possibly" be featured in a larger facet in the magazine.

What's going on?! I knew Lauren was an intern but Whitney was promoted to Fashion Contributor, or so we were led to believe. Was that a lie? That's messed up if it was and Lisa Love is a hypocrite. Lisa and the rest of the Teen Vogue crew INTERVIEWED Whitney for the position. It's not like it was done under handedly. So then that means that if Whitney was merely an intern, and was never really promoted, then Lisa Love & Co. totally lied! Since when is deceit an admirable trait for Teen Vogue's readers to be witness to?

Jamie, I agree with you. There seem to be alot of jealous people hating on Lauren, especially the FIDM person. If you actually went to FIDM then you should know the difference between Forever 21 clothes and quality fabric and construction. You get what you pay for. It seems you have a lot to learn so you need to stay in school and pay attention. I have a couple of Lauren's dresses and I can tell the difference.

1:59 Jamie-The only thing amazing about this no-talent is her lack of originality. It amazes me that after living in L.A. for two years she continues to go to the same places and party. I've lost any respect I might have once had for Lauren. I go to FIDM and I major in the same major as Lauren, Product Development. How is she amazing? She has taken the huge amount of industry information we learn at FIDM and created her "line." Lisa Love is right, how is this fashion? Lauren's fashion influences include Nicole Richie, Kate Moss, and Sienna Miller but does her line reflect their style in any way? No. Her collection is basic, boring, clothes that could be found at Forever 21 two seasons ago. Oh yeah, with about a 90% markup. Her line is triggered for Juniors yet she sets her price points for a Contemporary customer. If she were really smart and had any knowledge of correct marketing, she would sell her clothes at a lower price point to cater to her fans. How can anyone take her collection seriously when nowadays, any celebrity can create their own line as long as they have the money. It would be different if her collection came out amazingly, but it's basically what's already out there in retail stores now. Lauren Conrad's not selling her clothes, she's selling her name; which is beginning to dwindle slowly.

I just think this whole thing is dumb. The Hills is entertainment. Who cares how real it is or not? It's just... brain candy. And Lisa Love should STFU. No one cared about her irrelevant magazine until the Hills showed it. Their covers with Lauren were the best selling ones all year.
