The Dog in the picture is an Ambullneo Mastiff not a neo or a Fila! The Ambullneo is the most loyal dog on the planet in fact this rare breed was created for the sole purpose of guardian companion .Ving's Ambullneo Mastiffs were not even there at the time of the incident they were probably with Ving doing there job.

Los Angeles animal services were spotted taking four mastiffs away from Ving Rhames’ Brentwood home Friday morning, after a caretaker was fatally mauled by dogs on the property.
The actor has long been fond of the breed, which are often used as guard dogs.
In a 1999 interview with the Los Angeles Times, the Pulp Fiction star showed off his “petrifying” Ambullneo mastiff named Samson and his three mastiff puppies -- Storm, Scorsese and Cage (the latter two were named after director Martin Scorsese and actor Nicolas Cage, with whom Rhames worked on the film Bringing Out the Dead).
He also talked about his 170-pound Fila Brasileiro named Kong.
"The dog was actually bred to guard slaves," Rhames said. "It was the only dog they found that had the temperament to guard a slave. It could be around you every day, but if you tried to run away, it would deal with you like it never saw you before."
The Times reporter joked, “Just as you are thinking how helpful this will be to the forensic specialists, he pulls the dog away with his free hand before it can playfully disembowel you.”
During the interview, Rhames lavished his canines with attention, at times speaking to them in baby talk.
Still, despite their intimidating appearance, Rhames insisted that his dogs were all bark no bite. "He just wants to play,” Rhames said of Kong.
In a 2001 interview with Time magazine, the actor admitted that he tests out his characters on his dogs to make sure that he's completely embodied a character.
"Once I'm close to that transformation, then I do it for my dogs - because dogs know when something's not right," Rhames points out. "I figure if I can fool them, then I've successfully changed my spirit."
While preparing for the role of Don King in the television movie Don King: "Only in America" (for which he won a Golden Globe award), Rhames adopted the boxing promoters' speech patterns and mannerisms and tried out the character on his pets.
"I changed my voice, my diction, my movement - and then I tested it on the dogs," he said. "The dogs started growling at me. That's a true story."

First of all there were NO Ambullneo Mastiif's present on the day in question! There were 2 English mastiff's a Fila and an Olde Bulldoggge(fact!)Second of all although the gentleman (Jacob) that passed on the property did have a heart condition but the autopsy determined his death was caused by a brain anurism. (fact)There were also no bite marks found on the body there were however scratches...like maybe the dogs were trying to help wake up their friend or they might have thought that Jacob was playing a new game. Anyways, the dogs were released back to the care of Ving and were obviously innocent of all negative accusations. And last... the media does not make re-traction statements unless ordered to do so by their attornies - so we good people go on believing what we hear on the news, even if is not accurate. Stop the hating!
I own filas and have dealt with them extensively. If it is true that the man was their caregiver then there is no way that fila even looked at him the wrong way let alone kill him. There is nothing more faithful or loyal as a fila with someone they consider family, nothing. There has not been one reported case in the history of the breed of one of these dogs attacking their own family members, ever. This is a dog like no other it is bred for your protection and is not bred to kill but to catch and hold, which is what FILA means in archaic portugese. They were used to catch runaway INDIAN slaves not black and were not suppose to kill them because a dead slave is a worthless one, no? The guy most probably died of natural causes and the dogs nipped and scratched him to see what was wrong. As for the other mastiffs he had they are pussy cats and that war dog instinct has been bred out of them for hundreds of years already. Filas are the last dog with their natural protective instinct left intact and should be preserved that way. If it aint broke don't fix it!
"10:40 PM Anonymous . . . I agree with you when you said "there is no such thing as a Ambullneo Mastiff". What I think they were actually should have written is a cane-coarso mastiff. I worked with a breeder in new jersey. they are the k-9 gental giant"
That's funny I guess someone forgot to mention that little bit of information to me and my AmBullNeo Mastiff, that we never acquired from the very same breeder that Mr. Rhames never acquired either.
ALL dogs have the potential for violence, also the Corner has stated that after the autopsy preformed on the deceased man, that the dogs were NOT responsible for the mans death.
Once again the sensationalistic, fear mongering media and its yellow journalism scares the sheeple. WAKE UP!
For all the people who hate on big dogs y'all are ignorant. I own 3 bullmastiffs and they have never hurt nor bit anyone!!! They are awesome pets who are loving, caring, compassionate. So for those who are hating on this guys dogs need to find a mean dog and let them bite the crap of you!!!!!
People appear to be so ready to see Mike Vick in jail for his alleged crimes. Other than the testimony of career crooks and villains. There is no solid evidence linking Mike to the crimes. Wealthy people own property all over the place, and can not reasonably be held accountable for every incident that occurs on distant properties. If this were the case, then more should be done to the falcon player who was at home while a friend of his committed rape only rooms away from where he slept. It is a truly sad day in this world when the well-being of a dog can garner more media attention than that of a person. Mike has not been to trial, I would advise all of you animal enthusiasts to try and lend a fraction of the benefit of doubt that you extend to pitbulls, mastiffs or any other dominate breed that attacks a person.
7:58 Humane Being............
I totaly agree! People have been up in arms over this ever since the story was written, and without proper and adiquit information and proof that these animals are indeed guilty of this mans death and not something else people yell kill. I wish the people that killed my uncle had gotten the same condeming from human eyes! but no it was "they are 16 and 18, they will change, they are still young. They could be good boy! They are human don't toss them off like dogs!" My comment "Fry the little bast@rds! They killed a man for less than 100 $ and they walk free to kill again, they took a hard working man from his four kids. We think more of our own kind because we think we are gods and better than all else! but because an animal was there when this man died and not proven to have killed a him they are condemed without trial and without proof. People on here saying people first they are mostlikely guilty of something and been let free, cat loves and dog haters or animal haters. Honestly refering to the bible animals were here brfore man, so its their (animals) land and we stole it. I say "UNTILL VERDICT IN DON'T CONDEM!"
Human Beings are the most dangerous animals(yes, animals). We kill each other every day, yet when an dog is accused, some people immediately jump all over it and say THEY should ALL be destoyed, no questions asked.
How ridiculous are you? We have shared this planet with all other creatures for ions and WE have NEEDED help from dogs to protect us, since we also are the most helpless & weakest animals on the planet(without weaponry).
There will always be instances like this where people will try to make an issue of how important WE are(one of OUR survival instincts), and that our survival matters above all else.
How many animals worldwide are used, tortured & abused & killed by us everyday, yet in one accidental instance, something happens to a human, even when human error may play a major role, people flip out!
Sometimes reading these comments makes me feel we haven't gotten anywhere.
My hope is that these dogs are found to have NOTHING to do with this mans death, and even if there are unanswered questions, after the determination of death, that this is just an unfortunate set of circumstances, nothing more.
AND, the woman who owned the dog didnt even have the stupid dog on a leash! Why should anyone have to deal w that while at a public place like a park?? That is the dog owners responsibility.
My child was attacked by a "broken in" dog, it was NOT her fault! we were at the park and she tripped and the dog jumped on her and started attacking her. The ignorant owner tried to say the dog was a puppy (a 150lb puppy) and the dog was trying to pick her up or protect her. She had to get 3 operations on her face and lips. So to read some of these comments is insulting! Even dogs that are house trained can attack, they are still animals, no matter how tamed you think they are.
Im very interested to see what the actual cause of death is.
I am a mastiff owner and was SHOCKED beyond belief when I heard they had mauled him. I cannot fathom this breed doing that for NO reason. It upsets me that people are making judgements against this breed before knowing anything about the breed too! I mean seriously, they'll lick you to death and thats about it. I believe they'd attack to defend their owners, and its amazing how protective they are, but I've never heard such a thing from this breed!
My 185 pound baby was bitten at Petsmart one day by a poodle and she didnt flinch. She just looked up at me with sad eyes as if to say, "mommy why did that just happen?" It was so cute and sad...
I just really think people need to research the breed before snapping to judgement. Especially since were getting all info second hand from unreliable media...
Until the final word comes out, save yourselves from making ignorant comments.
I wouldn't blame the dog nor the four year old kid. I would blame the parents for not teaching their kids about animals in the first place... and putting their child in a position to get mauled because proper supervision of both animals and children would NEVER result in an incident like that. I think the man had a heart attack and the dogs probably sat with him until he passed and then moved him. Mastiffs are dogs of great power moving dead weight of a person would be no problem they would just need to get a grip...
Did anyone stop to think that this guy could have been pulled around by the dogs after he died or collapsed? If they had attacked him he would have had severe injuries, no doubt about that.
3:51 No one is blaming the victim (at least I'm not)...I think people are just trying to say that if it wasn't the dogs that caused his death, they should not be put to death. The news reports indicate that the bite marks found were non life-threatening, so if indeed he died and the dogs tried to move him, why should they be put down. If it is discovered that they caused his death, then YES, they should and will be put down.
EVERYONE NEEDS TO STOP FIGHTING AND SAYING THAT THESE DOGS SHOULD BE DESTROYED UNTILL IT IS "PROVEN" THAT THE DOGS DID INDEED KILL THE MAN! THERE IS NO I REPEAT NO PROOF OF HIS DEATH BEING FROM THE DOGS! AND THE DEFINITATION OF A MAULING IS BEING TORN UP OR APART. THIS MAN WAS NOT I REPEAT NOT CHEWED APART HE WAS BITTEN THREE MAYBE FOUR TIMES. YOU GUYS ARE PREJUDGING ANIMALS, BUT YOU GET UPSET IF SOMEONE PREJUDGES SCUM LIKE BRIT SPEARS OR PARIS HOLTON AND SO ON. GET OVER IT! UNTILL ITS PROVEN THEY WERE INDEED RESPONSIBLE I SAY INNOCENT TILL PROVEN GUILTY STANDS FOR HUMANS SO DOES IT STAND FOR ANIMALS!
The man had a heart attack BECAUSE the dogs were attacking him. Reading some of these comments is hilarious...some of u morons are actually blaming THE VICTIM for what happened. Would u blame a 4yr who gets mauled by a dog for what happened!! so shut the F*** up you idiots!
Oh yea, they look like they have been "broken in"
mauling a man to death is def not the act of a wild animal right?! get a life u idoits these crazy dogs should be put to sleep!!
I hope they kill those dogs!!
4:46 PM Anonymous Says

4:51 PM Anonymous Says
you are an idiot too, they are not wild animals. wild animals are animals that live in the wild, hence the name "wild animals" house dogs are house broken they are trained to be house pets. you guys are all stupid.
you both should call micheal vick cuz you have a lot in common. ignorant heartless pieces of sh*it
I have been around Mastiffs alot. They are generally a passive breed and although scary because of their size, quite friendly. I have seen aggressive dogs. I went to the Sir Francis Drake dog show in Marin County, Ca. and saw, out of the dozens of Mastiffs there, one or two that wanted a piece of me. (they were in pens, and unattended) The majority were just like big puppies. I hope the public does not misunderstand what happened. I hope they find out what were the circumstances of the incident. In the end, it's not the dogs, it's the owners.
Maybe it would be wise to call in an animal behaviorist to evaluate the dogs, someone like the dog whisperer.
The term MASTIFF is being used loosely here and that needs to be addressed. The term mastiff or sometimes molosser refers to extra large breeds such as the English Mastiff, Neopolitan or Italian mastiff, Bull mastiff, moutain dogs, ect. My dogs breed is nick named the gentle giant for a reason. The fawn wagging tail in the video clips appears to be an Old English Mastiff. People out here commenting on vicious big dogs need to know what you are talking about. Old English Mastiffs have been bred for temperment and health, basically any aggression has been bred out of the breed over centuries, hence gentle giant. During roman empire they were fighting dogs and used on english estates as guard dogs. Now, your FULL BLOOD OLD ENGLISH is capable of knocking you down in an attempt to slobber your face, thats the scope. Then again my 216lb STILL A PUPPY mastiff is still a puppy and learning that is not acceptable to jump up and greet you at the door in excitement. This dog also allows a 1 1/2 year old child to slide down his sides, put your fist in his mouth and even stick your face in his bowl and does not show the slightest sign of aggression. Plainly stated that is called proper BREEDING. I am not a breeder, but any respectable breeder, vet or OEM owner will tell you the same, these are not vicious dogs. Now saying all that we do not know the actual temperment or how they have been socialized. Generalized for the breed, I find it very UNlikely they attacked and more likely they were "rousing" in concern which I could see having bite marks on hands and feet. Just wanted to make those points clear so that people are not assuming the tail wagging guy is an attack dog. Keep in my this breed, just about every one of them I have met or read about most enjoy placing their head down on your feet to rest.
Horrible accident.
I own a Fila Brasileiro who is very protective. My dog would maul anyone breaking in my house, or anybody trying to hurt me and my family. If this man was the dog's caretaker, a Fila would protect the man, even against the other dogs. The Fila breed is faithful to those in its life, home and property.
Just my 2 cents here
Another Mastiff lover
TO: "3:07 PM Stacie Says" -
AMEN! BRAVO! BRAVO! BRAVO! It's nice to see people who understand dogs. I like/love/trust my dogs, more than most people. I have had many dogs, large and small, and it all depends on the owner! Again, bravo to you Stacie!
Hey,
Can u hook me up wit Ving.. daymm those dogs are just what I'm looking fo. I want to put them in the next competition at New Dogz Kennals.
Mike Vick
The dog in the picture is a neapolitan (Italian) mastiff. Just because he is black doesn't mean he is vicious. I have owned all kinds of mastiffs and they are wonderful gentle dogs who adore children and tolerate them well. They are not agressive by nature, except for the Fila who strongly dislikes anyone outside the family. My own kids have been with mastiffs all their lives.
If these dogs had meant this man harm he would have been torn to bits. Remember the Presa Canario dogs that tore out the throat of Diane Whipple in San Francisco? Those dogs were vicious and they showed it. These dogs knew this man well and most likely were trying to rouse him. Perhaps they thought he was playing a game. These dogs are often close to 200 lbs and are capable of tearing off limbs if they choose. Anyone who knows this would therefore realize this mans wounds were superficial for this breed.
I wish Ving would make a statement already in the dogs defense. Now this breed will suffer because of this when the rescue is already inundated with people not prepared to care for dogs of this size (HINT: if you are reading this- mastiffs eat a LOT and they drool a LOT so if you can't deal with that don't get one)
any updates on this? News reports stated that he was possibly running to get away from the dogs and had a heart attack in the process?
This guy had a heart attack and died. The dog bites weren't fatal. The dogs loved him and were just showing love.
11:45 PM DOG LOVER , most likely you'll rot in hell with your mutt. Obviously you are evil. Sucks to be you.
