Scarlett Johansson will release her debut album, Anywhere I Lay My Head, May 20.
The album features 10 Tom Waits covers, as well as one original track, according to a statement released by her label Atco Records.
Yeah Yeah Yeahs guitarist Nick Zinner is among those who appear on the album.
The actress spent five weeks recording last spring, collaborating with the likes of David Sitek, a member of acclaimed indie band TV on the Radio.
“God only knows how many of my talented friends would kill for a chance [to put an album out],” she said in the November 2007 issue of Elle.
The disc isn’t Johansson’s first stab at music: She sang guest vocals with alt-rockers the Jesus and Mary Chain at last year’s Coachella Festival.

I know we're supposed to like this latest package from Hollyweird but Scarlet, though a fine actor, is like the rest of the throng in 'the business'. Narcissistic and ultimately, vapid. I hope if she rivals brangelina soon and actually does something for people in the world who truly deserve it- like Israel and the poor Christains and gays getting murdered daily in places like Darfur by the muslim hoardes. I am a big fan of Tom Waits, and after hearing (and liking) the version of Summertime as sung by Scarlett Johansson I'm very anxious to see how this album turns out. So yes, I will probably buy it and I think (hope) I will not regret it. She is a beautiful girl with a very nice voice, and I belive Mr. Waits is one of the greatest songwriters of this century, so... what can go wrong?

Actually she can sing.
I was impressed. Considering all the talent free fools that are mass producing crap thinking they are triple threats, it is nice to see someone that can act, sing, and can hold down a conversation without showing her boobs.

There's no reason that a person can't be gifted in two areas...I love Tom Waits, but I have also really enjoyed some of Scarlett's efforts in acting...I'd like to hear it before I hate it...

Tom Waits is my favorite artist of all times. He is not only a musican but a beautiful poet. I pray that her album will do his work justice. And I also pray that I won't have to hear little 13 teen year old girls singing his words like its a Mariah Carey song.

Scarlett J. is cool. Very juicy -- which, I agree, is refreshing to see these days. She looks healthy. I think it's a bit immature to judge her on her singing. At least I will wait till I hear it before I make up my mind. I love her acting.

i think she's nice and pretty and will sell a decent amount. most guys think she's delicious so she won't have a problem selling to guys :) and for the one who called her fat... she's not FAT. she looks quite nice. it gets old seeing a bunch of pencil thin chicks out there. i'm a recovering anorexic and it's nice to see women stand up for having more than just skin and bones. as for me buying? i don't know yet. i'll have a listen first. :)
