I'm af/am and a woman but i've got a great man (he's white) and i'm happy! you make it sound like the other way around doesn't happen or black woman are always left behind or something. look, it's hard to look through the color of one's skin for most people and i don't blame them with all the history that this country has had but in the end it's all about personality.

Grey's Anatomy's Ellen Pompeo and music exec Chris Ivery have tied the knot.
Just before the one-year anniversary of their November 10 engagement, the pair wed Friday at 11:30 a.m. in a brief ceremony at New York's City Hall.
Mayor Michael Bloomberg — a Massachusetts native like Pompeo, 38 — served as their witness, a Bloomberg rep tells Usmagazine.com. First Deputy Mayor Patti Harris accompanied the couple.
“The Mayor was in midtown for his weekly radio show, and he came back [downtown] for a series of meetings at City Hall, and this was one of the things he had planned," Bloomberg's rep, Stu Loeser, tells Us. " The Mayor was gracious.”
The Boston Globe first reported the news.
"It was a perfect day," Pompeo's rep, Jennifer Allen, tells Us. "They are so happy."
After a long weekend in the big apple, Pompeo was back on the set of Grey's by Tuesday, according to her rep.

I find nothing wrong with a white chick marrying a black dude. you can't help where you find love. i've dated some really sweet black guys and some really awful white dudes - and vice versa. it's what's inside that counts. that being said - and i don't "know" her, so i really can't say for sure - but i have disliked ellen ever since i read an interview with her in maxim. she came off VERY stuck up and condescending. i think she used the word "hustle" like 5 times (as in" "i learned to hustle people at a very young age." or something like that.) she is my LEAST fav character on Grey's. I was praying they'd kill her off when she drowned.

just a little note added onto what some really decent people said earlier. you people who can't see past weight, eyebrows and race - have you never been in love? have you never lived? none of what your seeing matters, and everything you say does nothing apart from show how sad and ignorant you are. advice: next time you meet a black, realise that they are a black PERSON. talk to them and you'd see that they are individual, unique, just like you think you are in your white group. next time you meet a latino, know that they are latin PERSON. know that, just like you they are working for a better future, be it for their kids, their spouses or future generations. and the next successful asian you meet - you guessed it! - is a PERSON and successful for who they are. just be a human - its quite nice.

Ellen Pompeo is an iconoclast; I like it that she's secure in her relationship with Ivery and doesn't require a Fariy Tale Wedding and the cast of thousands to prove her love. And, I'm sorry, but the amount of money that even non-celebrities spend on lavish ceremonies and receptions is appalling. That she doesn't bow to convention makes me respect her even more.

WOW-- I don't know if I think this is a cute couple or not... I don't mind the mix race thing (not my cup of tea though) that dosen't matter. I just think they look like an odd couple...
