Paul Browne, Deputy Commissioner for Public Information of the New York Police Department, held a press conference on Heath Ledger Tuesday night.
He confirmed the following:
• The deceased was discovered by a masseuse and a housekeeper at approximately 2:45 p.m. today.
• The masseuse was there for a regular appointment.
• The deceased was found in his bedroom.
• The deceased was lying on the floor, curled up, at the foot of his bed.
• The deceased was naked and face down.
• There were not pills found scattered around the room as had been previously reported.
• There were some prescription bottles, including prescription sleeping medication, uncovered.
• Police do not know how long the deceased had been in the apartment.
• The deceased was renting the apartment.
• The cause of death has not yet been determined. The determination will be made by the medical examiners office.

I really admired Heath as an actor. He was a truly talented man with such passion. I also loved that he was never all over these magazines and he chose to lead a somewhat normal life outside of Hollywood. My heart goes out to his family, and also to the women who loved him. This can't be easy for Naomi Watts and especially Michelle Williams. And bless his little girl, Matilda. I don't think Heath meant to end his life. I pray he is at peace now.

This is a very tragic thing to happen to such a young person and his loved ones. I think everyone needs to respect his family and friend's privacy and lay off the subject for awhile, at least during this very trying time for greiving. Rest in peace, Heath. You will forever be remembered for your talent by us, and I'm sure for much more by the ones you loved and LOVES you back.

It has been less than two hours since I heard of the death of one of my favorite actors of all time. Heath Ledger was so young and so incredibly talented and his death is senseless. But it is also senseless to make judgements about the man on what little we know about actually happened to him. In the grand scheme of things, the manner in which he was found (Remember people, the man was in his own home!) is not what is important. What is really important is that a daughter lost a father, a mother lost a son, and siblings lost a brother. Not to mention, the other people in his life who lost a friend and lover (past or present). We only knew him through his work and he brought us great joy--his ten foot wide grin just lit up the screen. However, just like most of us, his work wasn't the only thing in his life. He was human just like the rest of us and while he will be missed by us, that pales in comparison to how much he will be missed by those who actually knew him and loved him.

I think his death is really sad he was so young and still had a whole life ahead for him and it's just terrible. My heart goes out to his family and his friends and most important his daughter, she is left without a dad...how sad.

Guys, Heath was not ugly AT ALL!!! If you watch his early work, he's very cute and charming (those dimples!). The problem came later once prolonged drug use ravaged his face and body. If you ever saw him in interviews over the last two years, he was always antsy and jittery, like he was high or going through withdrawal. Heath's life should be celebrated, but his death should be a cautionary tale to anyone on drugs or thinking about doing them.

I Totally I agree. While Angelina is my least favorite actress and I do really see anything I would personally like about her in person, could definately hang out with Jen and have a good laugh rather than pretend to save the world while I fly around on personal jets, etc. Having said all that, it takes a vile person to wish anyone dead.
Whether we like her or not, Angelina is mother to 4 children whose lives would be devestated and forever marked with sadness due to an untimely death of their mother. She is a daughter, a sister, a friend. so even though you might want to see her in pictures or films, or lets just say Hollywood, to wish her dead means you are a very frightening human being.

9:32, Are you for real? It's tragic that he died but for you to cry over someone you never met is morbid. Some people like to wallow in pity. This isn't about you, it's about his family and his precious little girl. Don't use this an excuse to feel pity for yourself.

I have read that Heath had pneumonia when he died. I feel so terrible about his passing. He was such a talented actor and wonderful person. My heart goes out to Michelle, Matilda, his family and his friends.
