More than 100 members of the Osmond Family honored late patriarch George Osmond on an episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show, airing Friday.
George had planned to travel to Chicago to tape the program but unexpectedly passed away of natural causes at age 90 Tuesday.
Marie Osmond said there was no question that the show must go on, the Associated Press reports.
"We talked about it, and my father would want us all to be here," she said. "He loved his family."
Marie and brother Donny also performed the theme song from their famous TV show in a tribute to their father, Entertainment Tonight reported.
Marie described her dad — who had nine children, 55 grandchildren and 48 great-grandchildren before his wife, Olive, died in 2004 — as her "hero. And I will miss that the most because he was my rock. He was my strength."
Meanwhile, Marie, 48, said earlier this week that she will continue competing on Dancing With the Stars and will join the show's tour, which launches December 18 in Seattle.

I thought the brothers sounded great together on Oprah. They did "he ain't heavy" and it was very well done, sent chills down my back to see the oldest brother with MS stand up and belt it out at the end. I thought Marie acted weird though. She kept interrupting Donnie and seemed to think her Father's death was all about her. Now "I'm an orphan" -what about her brothers? I think Donnie is probably very sensitive underneath it all and it was tough for him to have so much fame and pressure at a young age, hence the anxiety problems that have plagued him as an adult which he hinted at on Oprah. Those kids at 3,4 and 5 were too young to be pushed ons tage like that.

How really sad people! Here is a family who has kept out of trouble throughout their whole career. They have put their whole selfs into performing for their fans who they treat with the utmost respect and still you have people here dissing them. What examples the Osmonds have been through the years. This is a solid wholesome family and yet you can post your petty comments on the size of their family. May God be with you Donny and the rest of the Osmond Family and hold tight to the ideal that you will all be reunited in the afterlife. God Bless.

the first amendment does give you the right to say anything you want. however, class, morals, and kindness keep people from being downright hateful and mean to others. it's especially fun for you to do it on here since you would never have the guts to do it to her or her family's face. people have a right to their free speech too and call you out on it. you're not funny or cute in your response.
