Paris Hilton Ordered Back to Jail!
Friday June 8, 2007
![]() infphoto.com Paris Hilton is returning to jail. L.A. Superior Court Judge Michael Sauer ordered Hilton on Friday to return to the Century Regional Detention Facility in suburban Lynwood, just one day after sheriff's officials released her to house arrest. The judge also ruled that Hilton will have to serve the remainder of her 45-day sentence in the jail facility. Following the decision, Hilton was escorted from the courtroom by two deputies as she screamed, “Mom! Mom! Mom!” "This is cruel," Kathy Hilton told Usmagazine.com after the ruling. A court spokesman told reporters that the "medical issues" that jail officials had cited as a reason for her early release "were not addressed" Fox News contributor Greta Van Susteren, who sat in the courtroom just a few feet from Hilton, reported afterward on Hilton's appearance: "She shakes, she twitches, she quivers. She's sick. There's something wrong with her. ...This is a woman who needs some medical attention." Earlier in the day AT 10:15 a.m. PST, L.A. County Sheriff's officers reportedly handcuffed Paris Hilton at her Hollywood Hills home and transported her in a patrol car to a downtown L.A. courthouse. Hilton could be seen sobbing as the car pulled from her home. Shortly after Hilton's arrival at the courthouse, her parents, Rick and Kathy Hilton, entered amid a media frenzy. Less than a day after Hilton left jail to serve the rest of her 45-day sentence at home, Judge Saur ordered Hilton to appear in person at a scheduled courtroom hearing on Friday morning where it will be decided if she will have to return to jail. Though Hilton was initially going to be teleconferenced in to the meeting, Judge Sauer demanded that the L.A. County Sheriff Department fetch the heiress from her home and ferry her to the courthouse. In addition to asking the court to send Hilton back to jail, prosecutors also sought to hold L.A. County Sheriff’s officials in contempt for releasing her early. At 2:09 a.m. on Thursday, sheriff's officials released Hilton from the Century Regional Detention Center in Lynwood, California, due to an (Hilton was originally ordered to serve a 45-day jail sentence for violating her probation, but last month the term was reduced to 23 days on account of good behavior before she had even set foot in jail. While she only spent a little more than three days in the slammer, she was credited with having served five days of her sentence.) The decision by Sheriff Lee Baca to reassign Hilton to house arrest angered prosecutors and Judge Michael Sauer, who specifically Sauer issued the order for Hilton to return to court after the city attorney filed a petition demanding that Hilton be "What transpired here is outrageous," county Supervisor Don Knabe told the Associated Press, adding that Hilton's return home "gives the impression of... celebrity justice being handed out.” Baca dismissed the criticism, saying the decision was made based on advice from medical professionals. "It isn't wise to keep a person in jail with her problem over an extended period of time and let the problem get worse," Baca told the Los Angeles Times on Thursday. "My message to those who don't like celebrities is that punishing celebrities more than the average American is not justice," Baca said. Hilton’s legal trouble began last September when she failed a sobriety test after police saw her weaving down a street in her Mercedes-Benz. She pleaded no contest to reckless driving and was sentenced to 36 months' probation, alcohol education and $1,500 in fines. In the following months, Hilton was pulled over on two separate occasions by cops who discovered her driving on a suspended license. Hours after her release on Thursday, Hilton issued the following statement through her attorney: "I want to thank the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and staff of the Century Regional Detention Center for treating me fairly and
