Just a few days ago, we knew nothing about Alexa Ray Joel aside from her lineage.
The daughter of musician Billy Joel and model Christie Brinkley was thrust into the spotlight on Sunday when she had the temerity to respond to a picture of her posted on PerezHilton.com.
Venting via her myspace blog, Alexa Ray called Perez "quite dangerous," and was sickened to see commenters "picking apart the appearance" of her "8 year-old sister".
Today the singer, 21, has clarified her opinion for Usmagazine.com:
"To paraphrase my father, he always said: 'don't take any crap from anybody.' I've had a lot of people advise me in this industry to get a thicker skin and turn a blind eye to the vicious trends of the tabloid publications and blog-sites, and their dangerous effects on young women, and society in general. But if I were to follow their advice, and do nothing, I feel I would only be perpetuating something which I believe to be fundamentally wrong. I stand by my original posting."

Her brother and sister will grow up to be lookers too. Christie is in her own league and Billy Joel was handsome back in the day, kind of heavy now but you forget it all when he sings. Alexa should not give this crap (or any rude comments on this site) another thought. She needs to keep on keeping on because some people are always going to be mean. Anyone that has to pick apart an 18 year old child (or her 8 year old sister) needs to ask themselves why they have the need to do this. I know this is a celebrity site and some seem to love to bash but she is a child.

Perez Hilton is a big FAT worthless piece of crap! I stopped looking at that website months ago after only a couple of glimpses. It's just filled with a whole lot of negative energy. I was just telling my mom all about her over the weekend at the soccer game. And how you can get her cd at Target it is only like $6. because it only has a couple of her songs untill she comes out w/ a longer cd. But, that I do like her music, she sounds good like blues/ her own Norah Jones sounding music (i mean you wouldn't booty shake your @ss to her music like a teenager, it is better then that)
Well, I can only give her girl power for doing what she wants to do (play music). She does not sound like computer voice Britney Spears, she sounds good, something you would lisen to your whole life, and she can play insturments also, unlike Linsey Lowhag and her fake guitar playing.
I think she makes GREAT music, and is PRETTY, and has GREAT GIRL POWER ATTITUDE!!!!

Overreacting? Let someone put you down in a International Publication because you are an 18 year old KID of famous parents. Why is it that people are offended by the needless cruelty which has become the "norm" in this society, are the "problems"? It isn't polite to call someone "fugly" "ugly" or any other name. Post a picture of yourself the lovely person who wrote "fugly"....quite possibly Mr. Hilton would call you the same.
Why don't we start a trend to make this a better world. Each and every person take personal responsibility and not engage in name calling or other mean spirted behavior.
You don't know her, she may be a beautiful peron inside. She certainly is beautiful to her parents, and she was a huge support to her mother when her ex husband had a very public affair.
It's really sad that people call her "pathetic excuse for a real human" and "fugly" because she opted to stick up for herself.
