Former Spice Girl Melanie Brown is speaking out against Eddie Murphy’s recent statements questioning whether or not he is the father of her unborn child.
“I am obviously upset and distressed at some of the comments made by Eddie Murphy to the media,” the singer, who is five months pregnant, says in a statement. “I was astonished by what Eddie said – there is absolutely no question that Eddie is the father. My main concern is to concentrate on the well being of my daughter and baby."
During a recent appearance on the Dutch talk show RTL Boulevard, Murphy, 45, was asked if he was happy with Mel "since she's pregnant with your child."
"You're being presumptuous because we're not together anymore," Murphy responded. "And I don't know whose child that is, until it comes out and has a blood test. You shouldn't jump to conclusions, sir."
Murphy began dating Brown (also known as "Mel B" and "Scary Spice") in June. However, the actor brought film producer Tracey Edmonds to the premiere of his film Dreamgirls on December 4, where she told reporters that the two have been dating for a month-and-a-half.
This news likely surprised Brown, 31, who said earlier this week, “We're in love...I can't wait to spend Christmas with him, and I can't wait to have this baby."

They're both stupid! Mel was already a divorced mother of a daughter (no less). So why even risk having unprotected sex so soon, especially, with someone with such a "questionable" sexual history. Let's be real about one thing, Eddie Murphy doesn't need to be associated with Scary Spice. Scary Spice needs to be connected to Eddie Murphy because of all the benefits it will bring. Jerk or not Eddie Murphy is still a celebrity and Scary Spice is a "has been." Poor kid!

The old saying Momma's baby daddy's maybe always applies. Both Melanie and Eddie owe it to the child to find out who is her biological father. Get a DNA test!!! Which one is afraid, she or he? Melanie, give your child the opportunity to know both sides of her family. If Eddie is the father, and doesn't want to be in her life, that doesn't mean her siblings will feel the same. She has the right to know both sides of her family.

This is just another case of a jerk trying to make his former lover look bad. It backfired on Stephen Bing and it will backfire on Eddie Murphy. I don't know if Mel B is planning on getting child support, but Elizabeth Hurley told Bing she never wanted his money, but she was hurt and offended that he claimed they weren't exclusive. I think it is stupid for anyone that is simply dating, especially if they have only dated for a month or two to have unprotected sex. However it does happen, and if a baby is the result, better than an STD, then take responsibility. Eddie's a jerk!!!

Mel can claim Eddie's the father, why because if he is the only person she slept with then he is the dad. Eddie's a dick head, point blank. She was his rebound relationship and he got her preggers and now he's trying to back out of it. Mel's too high profile to claim he's the father and there was a chance he's not. How many women have been played like this before? All of this is so tacky. He should have said no comment and asked for a DNA test before commenting on anything. Besides, he already paying child support for 7 kids and I can tell you his first wife took him to the cleaners as she should have. If he didn't want any kids she should have put a cap on it. I have no problems with him wanting a DNA test as I think he would be stupid if he didn't and she should understand that but to out their private business out there like that was so ugly.

Did you know that some states say if the child has known you (in general) as the father since it was born, and at any age afterwards you (as in the father) find out you are not the father of the child, you still have to pay child support till the child turns 18? How unfair is that?

I don't see Mel B as the whoring around type especially given the fact that the father of first child cheated on her. I think Eddie used Mel B, more than likely to put those gay rumors about him to rest. As for Tracey Edmonds, in "our" being black community, she's the biggest beard out there. It's no secret Babyface is gay. Tracy is doing what she's known for, being arm candy to a closeted queen.

The accused father has no way to know whether the mom has had sex with anyone else. She at least knows before the accusation if she has. so for the father , it could be a mistake. For the mother, she HAS to know whether questionable paternity is a possibility before she makes the accusation.

And I think that there should be a law that if a woman claims a man is the father of her baby and he is proven later to not be, she should have to pay the offended man an amount equal to 18 years worth of child support for her attempt to extort that kind of money from him.

Eddie said EXACTLY what he should have said. The reporter was the one that put "with your child" into the question. Eddie never said he wasn't the father. He just said he wasn't going to accept the question as stated until a paternity test said he was. Anyone that has seen the Maury Povich show once of twice will know that there are alot of women who will lie about paternity. If Eddie accepts that he is the father before a test , in many states that would make him responsible even if he is later found out to not be the genetic father. Once again...He did the right thing. The baby deserves to know for sure who the father is.

What Eddie said at this point in time was very tacky, tasteless and hurtful. If he truly does doubt his paternity status of this child, he should have waited until it was born and then had a test done privately. Pregnant women need to have as stress-free life as possible, and this I imagine is incredibly stressful to her. How would he feel if this stress caused problems for this baby, which could turn out to be HIS baby? He needs to grow up and think outside his box of Eddie. He sure was happy performing the baby-making process, now he needs to be a man about it and take responsibility for what he has helped create if he is indeed the father.

He never got over his character in the movie Boomerang..yeah! That must be it! He is a A$$, and I almost hope the kid is not his, so the poor child will not have an egotistical jerk for a father. I think when Maury delivers the news he should do it in a rap/scratch like line similar to the one from The Golden Child. It seems to me that Murphy's desire to hand it to the reporter was stronger than his need to respect a woman he was involved with and all the children involved.

Well, I think after Eddie's wife divorced him, rumors started flying that he was GAY. I think he needed a big female publicity think to deter those GAY rumors. I think he's GAY, because he looks like it. He looks like he has some disease. Mel should go get checked out, take him to court and get child support like Diddy's Baby Mamma. I'm with ya, Kissablepat. I don't think Eddie was looking for anything long-term with Scary Spice. I said all along when I heard about they were together, that he got her on the rebound because it was way too soon after his wife left him...his wife of what 10 plus years!?! I don't think Eddie planned for his little "thing" with Scarey to be long-term but obviously Scarey had other thought...probably thought she struck gold when Eddie landed on top of her (literally). I think this is Eddie's child though but I think Scary set him up.
