PIXAR ANIMATION STUDIOS

On his way to a championship, reckless race car Lightning (voiced by Owen Wilson) speeds into a deserted town, destroys a few buildings and gets taken hostage by the area’s kooky inhabitants (who teach him a lesson about treating others well). Despite its stunning animation and some funny lines from the talking cars (Bonnie Hunt voices a Porsche), the flick soon runs out of gas. (Buena Vista, $30)
