Snoop Dogg, 35, was arrested on suspicion of illegal drug and gun possession, the Associated Press reports.
The rapper-turned-actor (born Calvin Broadus), was arrested Thursday afternoon at Bob Hope Airport, police said. He posted $35,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in court December 12.
Airport police officers stopped Snoop Dogg at a loading zone for a vehicle code violation. When officers searched the vehicle they found a gun and marijuana, police said.
"There was no basis for this arrest," the rapper's attorney, Donald Etra, said in a statement. "We believe that once this is cleared up, all charges will be dismissed."
The Orange County district attorney's office is also considering charges against Snoop after authorities discovered a 21-inch collapsible baton in his bags as he was boarding a New York-bound flight from John Wayne International Airport last month.
In 1990, the rapper was convicted in of cocaine possession, and three years later was charged with gun possession during a traffic stop. He was acquitted of murder in 1996 after an alleged gang member was killed by gunfire from a vehicle in which Snoop Dogg was a passenger.
Talk to Us: Should Snoop be forced to give up his job coaching a youth football team?

You all need to leave Snoop alone! and take a better look at Lindsy Lohan, who was drunk driving that could have Killed a human being!! Doing drugs, Busted how many times. But still gets a slap on her tender hand. Leave Snoop Dogg alone.
I think all the people who think he should quit are just haters he has done so many things for the kids. It should be up to the parents if they want to let their kids. Snoop Dogg is a great rapper he should keep doing his thing. Its not like other people dont use drugs. There are other people that are worst than him. I think everyone should just chill.
I think they should leave him alone everyone makes mistakes. Everyone has been or will be arrested someday it's nothing new. Snoop Dogg is a great person and has done a lot for his community and for the kids. I love Snoop Dogg he is my hero.
Celebrities should have their own laws and do whatever they want. why not? We pay their salary by going to their shows and buying merchandise, so they should get even more from the public! Usually if you are innocent, they don't have proof-marijuana and gun found in car would be considered what???? toys?
11:28, you mean beliefs like innocent until proven guilty??
Snoop smokes pot?!
Who knew?!
Clearly you do not have children and realize how impressionable they are. Even when you don't do things in front of them, they can see. They are easily influeced, and they should only have positive, law-abiding citizens supporting them. If not, they don't have a chance of leading a productive life as a member of society.
No i do not think that snoop should give up coaching. Yes granted he has a little history with drugs but how many petifile teachers and priests are still working with these children with the chance of them committing the crimes again so if the things that he is accused of don't relate to the POSITIVE reinforcement that he gives to this young boys than why take that away from them.
Why do we call him Snoop Dog, if that was not his born name? Same thing as Queen Latifah, Kid Rock, K-Fed? Why in the world would we stroke their ego even further by calling them these names, and then telling them they can do whatever illegal activity they want to-it's cool because they are good performers? Ridiculous! Personally, I LOVE when celebrities get in trouble with the police-that is just AWESOME to see that there is someone telling them they can't get away with it because they are famous. Keep it up "PO-PO!"
Wait....I am so confused, but I am starting to see the light....although marijuana is ILLEGAL and posession of guns without a liscense is ILLEGAL, it's okay because it's Snoop and you like smoking marijuana? OH my gosh!!! we should do whatever we want...or you can move out of this country if you don't like the laws. If you have a problem with the "po-po", they most likely have a problem with you too:) But if you get caught doing something illegal, just be sure to tell them they should try it before they knock it. So if Snoop does somehting like, oh let's say shoot someone in your family-is that okay because he coached kids? he is a good person, maybe he smoked a little too much.......I really hope you don't have children and are passing your beliefs onto them.
No, Stephie, I don't think they would just let it go, definitely not, however, I don't believe you would have a 35,000 dollar bail slapped on you either...well, I guess it depends on how much you had, but from the way this article is written, stating it was for drug possession and not something like possession with intent to sell, it leads one to believe that it wasn't all that much. Now, I could be wrong on that, but in the past, when it was a large amount, I've usually seen it as possession with intent to sell...
Celebrity or not, he had drugs on him. If I would get caught at an airport with drugs on... do you think the cops would let it go.... no, cause it's illegal. Even if it's just marijuana, it's still illegal.
8.11 I really don't care if you think i'm insane, like I said, all I can do is laugh, BUT I will say too, the irony is oh so thick coming from you...you take your boorish, angry and obtuse personality, hunt people on here to attack, label them with your personality traits and then go off on them. It is quite apparent that you are not adept at much beyond that...perhaps if you ask nicely, snoop might "lend" you his nickel bag, maybe that will help you calm down and laugh once in a while instead of being such a volatile personality on the boards...but then again, you may need a dime bag...
Texas Contessa 1:34am, whomever you are, I think you are insane. Slander? "tex"? Master? Jugular? Get real, you make no sense. I commented once in reference to a post of yours as I did one other. You are not special in my world. I didn't realize I had wandered onto your website, making it always about you all the time and thereby making you special. I'm sorry if that knocked you for a loop in your world where there seems to be a need for medication and therapy.
And that isn't sarcasm at all. More so shock over your ego and apparent delusion.
I hope this journey into the land before meds doesn't keep anyone from answering if they know why he was at the airport. Coming? Going? Playing taxi? I've read a couple of different sites and I haven't seen much more info.
I'm surprised with how absolutely perfect you are that you haven't yet mastered mind reading...ba dum bum...you've mastered slandering tex very well, you get a gold star, aren't you special? but, you know, truly, i'll let you in on a little secret...whenever you go for the jugular, I shake my head and laugh...
7:57pm: Was insinuating illegal and unscrupulous behavior from police sarcasm? Yeah, comes across clearly as so. (Now that was sarcasm.) In a sentence with not one bit of humor? In a post without humor? Learn that sarcasm doesn't translate well into print unless it is actually obvious in one way or another and/or funny and you may see less posts directed to the lack of accuracy in your post(s).
9:30am: Nope. Unless someone here knows that they are illegal somewhere? I don't know of any laws in my area like that. A baseball bat could be as dangerous. I read the baton was from a movie he did. It was in his luggage, not something he could easily get while on a flight. I can see it as memorabilia.
Does anyone know why he was at the airport? Coming or going? Picking someone up?
2.14 am anon, clearly, you are not familiar with the term or art of being facetious...sad, so very sad...dictionary dot com may help broaden your language spectrum, but that's about all, unfortunately, it can do nothing for personality disorders...
"And for the record, don't bash marijuana use until you are educated more."
Nice grammar. What's YOUR education like?
Is no one else concerned that he had a 21 inch baton in his luggage?
as far as the name comment goes he has been called snoop since he was a kid, he has never publicly gone by anything else. so many people talking about him when this is all they know. and this is all they know because they don't listen to his music, which is fine but talk about judgemental comments when you have no info. you'd be surprised how many teachers are closet potheads. drug tests are easily passed even if smoking occurred that day.
Wait To Go Snoop Dogg. Yeah SNoop. Cops should leave you alone.

Snoop is not only the couch of his son's little league football team, he's the one who STARTED the team. He's the one who pays for ALL their equipment, uniforms, trips, and even the bus that the kids get driven in. And THAT is the Snoop that the kids know and love. He created that team in order to keep kids off the street and out of gangs and have something positive to do in their spare time instead of living the life he once lived as a gang member.
Regarding his pot smoking: How many of us have had teachers, coaches and even our own parents who may have some form of bad habit they wished they could change? Perhaps they chain smoked, drank too much, ate too much, and even smoked weed? Snoop HAS tried, unsuccessfully, in the past to quit smoking but looks like he may be a work in progress, but that doesn't take away from the fact that he still is good father to his children and a good coach to those boys.
i have seen him in concert and he does not go around smoking weed onstage, although i did hear that jimmy buffet has no problem doing that from time to time. drinking is legal and hardly an indicator of a parent or person. quit talking if you don't know.
Well I tell you {It dont surpise me at all}!!!!He thinks hes Un-touchable...He walks around smoking his weed and drinking on stage..It was time to be stopped!!! Now go home and be a role model to your boyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!
