Sometimes it’s easy to forget that only 18 months ago, Katie Holmes, 27, was best known for Dawson’s Creek. Take October 5: The actress, already 40 minutes late to the Yves Saint Laurent fashion show in Paris, stepped out of a limo with Victoria “Posh” Beckham, 32, and was greeted by a phalanx of photographers. But she wasn’t looking for couture for her nuptials to Tom Cruise.
“I’m picking clothes for my closet,” Holmes told Us, adding, “I’ve already chosen my wedding dress.” The designer? She wouldn’t say (though Vera Wang and Karl Lagerfeld are rumored, they won’t comment), but others are definitely guessing.
“She’s a classic beauty, so I think she’ll go with Armani,” stylist Jennifer Rade tells Us.
Suggests stylist Phillip Bloch, “I think it should be off-white with a plunging neckline.”
No matter which dress Holmes has chosen, one thing is certain: She and Beckham will always have Paris. “I’m having so much fun,” Holmes, who left Cruise and daughter Suri in Beverly Hills, told Us. “It’s amazing!”
Her glitzy itinerary began at YSL. Then the friends, who met last year, feasted on fish at the Place de la Madeleine and went to a party at the home of mogul Mohamed Al Faed.
The two pressed on the next day, hitting the Chanel and Giambattista Valli shows. “Katie saw a black dress on the Chanel runway and mouthed to Posh, ‘I like that,’” says an insider.
At 1:30 a.m., they hit a Chanel party at the VIP Room, where Holmes glowed in a camel coat, despite the heat. “Katie is so confident and glamorous now,” says a source. “Tom has been good for her.”

OK, DID SHE FART IN THE DRESS OR WHAT? I DON'T SEE A VENT BELOW HER SO SHE IS NOT CHANNELING MARILYN MONROE. AS FAR AS A CHOICE FOR HER WEDDING DRESS, SHE SHOULD FORGET THE SEXY SLIT UP THE FRONT AS IT LOOKS LIKE SHE HAS NOT LOST ALL HER BABY WEIGHT IN HER LEGS - OR MAYBE THOSE BLACK STOCKINGS MAKE HER LOOK FAT. it seems like Katie is always being dragged around by Tom... so it's nice to see her sans Tom...out and about..Also...seems like she has changed alot too...she is more known as Katie Holmes "Tom Cruise's Fiancee" and not Katie Holmes as an individual...hope it works out!! Best of Luck!

I have to laugh because she will always be the girl with the crooked smile on Dawson's Creek to me! But, she is a living testament to how one can go from C list to A list in no time flat...all you have to do is have a powerful old man fall for you and suddenly you are important and news worthy.

I am a single mom of three, but I still wouldn't be flitting around the globe leaving my kids in the care of someone else so I could attend a fashion show. These celebs make me laugh. They claim they want their privacy, yet they make sure they are seen everywhere imaginable. Even if I had the money I wouldn't hire a nanny because I like raising my own kids. It keeps me very busy but at least they know I am there for them.

I'm really offended by the comments about Katie not spending time with her baby. I am a single mother and I have to leave my child with a sitter while I go to work. I wish I was in the position to spend all of my time with my child. However, if I was and I chose to slip away for a few hours shopping or a night out with my husband OR EVEN a two day trip to Paris, I would hardly think it was affecting my child in a negative way. If indeed you feel that this is a horrible mother, then you are criticising most of America!! You should feel very lucky to have the choice to be with your child at all times, but you could also allow your child alone time with other people (i.e. their father)

I never left my babies for very long either. I don't understand how much alone time she could possibly need. Lots of new moms do go shopping alone but they usually stay in the same country.

I have a right to say something when she's out and about ALL THE TIME, without the baby. And now in Paris for God knows how long. I can't bear to not see my child for a few hours, much less for days and days. She's out eating, shopping, at games, at shows, etc...what kind of a MOTHER is she, when she's hardly around for the kid?!!

It's sick how people talk about Tom and Katie. The question was about the wedding dress and most comments are rude and mean. They are a couple and they have a beautiful baby, and why should she not go shopping and why can she not leave the baby at home, everybody else does it. Her and Tom are great and wonderful parents. I believe, no matter what dress or designer she chooses, she'll be stunning. She is a very sweet and beautiful person.
