Jaime Pressly and her DJ beau, Eric Cubiche, wanted Us to be the first to know the good news: "We're going this weekend to [Beverly Hills jewelry store] XIV Karats to design my engagement ring," the My Name Is Earl star, 29, told Us on September 21. "I'm really looking forward to it." Though they only started dating a year ago, "Eric's been my best friend for nine years," she told Us. "It's one of those things where when you're ready, you're ready. And we are."
What makes them click? "She laughs at all my jokes," Cubiche said. "And I just love to sit back and watch her shine. We couldn't be any closer."
But Pressly, who told Us she would love to be a mom -- "Oh, God, yeah," she said -- isn't in a race to the altar. "We've been together so long we just aren't in a rush to marry."
Talk to Us: Do you think partners who start out as friends first have a better chance of making it in the long run?

My son Jim is Jaime's half-brother (they have the same Dad, my ex) and i can tell you Jaime is a wonderful person and deserves lots and lots of happiness. She was a beautiful child and she's a beautiful young woman. I met Eric this past summer and he's a wonderful guy - they compliment each other perfectly. She will make a fantastic Mom one day - she loves and dotes on little kids and has done so much charity work for any and all kids' causes. She's talented and has worked so very hard since she was 15 and i'm so glad it's finally starting to payoff. She's not one of these snooty stars that don't have time for their fans. I've seen her dead tired from a flight to NC and go out and sign hundreds of autographs and keep that pretty Pressly smile! My son has the same beautiful smile. I couldn't be more proud of her and Eric.

Of course two people that start off "as friends" have a better chance!!! They know what you used to look like, how nasty you can be sometimes, where your parents live and your secrets!!! (They also remember that camo dress you wore back in the day!) In the end (when it might be all good or it might be nasty) you'll still be homies! Make friends, THEN make love!

Just want to say, that in my experience, YES people who start off as friends have a more likely chance of surviving together as a romantic couple. You get to know all the little quirks and personality traits without the pressure first.

to answer the question, yes i think being friends first you "have a better chance of making it" but since when did people start going to the jeweler to design their engagement ring???? i just think that's going a bit over the top! they look happy though in that pic!
