On September 8, Whitney Houston, 43, filed for separation from husband Bobby Brown, 37, citing “irreconcilable differences” and taking the first step in ending a tumultuous 14-year marriage.
Though a source close to the couple says Houston and Brown have talked divorce “dozens of times,” they never set the legal process in motion. Why the big step now?
Sources tell Us Houston came to the conclusion that her rocky marriage – complete with infidelity and dwindling finances – was finally over after a dramatic intervention led by Houston's music-biz mentor, Clive Davis (who was prompted to intervene at the behest of singer, Courtney Love who recommended that Houston work with her own addiction coach, Warren Boyd).
“Getting sober has given her the clarity to move on from him,” a source close to Houston tells Us. Adds another source close to the couple, “After all these years, she cleaned up and got smart. She didn’t need him and realized it.” (Reps for Houston and Brown had no comment.)
How is Bobby handling the divorce? How will the couple divide their assets and decide who gets custody over their 13-year-old daughter Bobbi Kristina? What will it take for Whitney to have a career comeback? For more on what led to Whitney and Bobby’s split, check out the current issue of Us Weekly, on newsstands this week.

Ithink no matter what that no one has the right to judge another. You may not know what YOU might have done if you had been faced with the kind of temptations she faced. I wish Ms. Houston all the best. For me, she beats all others hands down except for Diana Ross. Iwish her all the best in the future. I will continue to look out ever so often for informaton that says she has fully overcome the past and I would love to see the new Whitney when she comes out. It's never too late for anyone.
I love you and believe and you and your voice. I will be awaiting your new material along with the rest of the world with much anticipation.
WHITNEY U ARE A GREAT SINGER LEAVING BOBBY WOULDVE BEEN BEST HE WAS PROBABLY THE ONE WHO WAS BRINGING U DOWN TO LOW TAKE CARE OF UR BABY GURL AND STAY STRONG.LET PEOPLE KNOW THAT U IS WAY BETTER THAN BEFORE JUST REMEMBER TO ALWAYS LOVE UR SELF, AND RESPECT UR SELF.
I always knew Whitney would come back and come back strong. All of us fall down...it just takes some of us a little longer to get back up. Whitney is going to be a better woman, mother, daughter, friend and artist than she was before. A lot of times we need something this drastic to happen to us to give us more depth and I think this situation is doing that for Whitney. She was destined for greatness and her path has already been charted for her by Jesus Christ so all she has to do is get to the end of the path. Sometimes we take detours and get lost along the way...and then God uses someone close to us or the person you least expect to come along the same road to help guide us.
So, all I can see is that her number one daddy Jesus Christ never stopped praying for her and obviously she has a gift that He gave her that HE still wants to showcase to the world.
Everyone has a testimony that will help others...and I can't wait to hear her testimony through her songs.
THANK YOU FATHER FOR KEEPING WHITNEY!

I certainly can understand the addiction Whitney has experienced. Once you get hooked on a product it is hard to get off. Sometimes, it is the company you keep, however, you cannot blame anyone but yourself. It is up to the individual to abstain from illegal activity because no one else can do it for you and when you look back and realize all of the money you spent unecessarily you just want to smack yourself. This is money I could have paid a bill,or put in the bank, but yet I give it to the devil himself. Now, I'm trying to keep away from this activity and trust in god more than I have to help me. I'm glad Whitney is doing the same.
hi whitney,
first all i want to tell you that i thank God he heard my prayers. i just want you to know that i know exactly how u feel i been there and done that , But hey, i know that once you get the complete spiritual awakening , You are going to be a big testimony of God's grace.
Sister come back home , your father is waiting for you. Remember the story of the prodigal son? God loves you, and we all want you back.
God Bless
P.s will continue praying for you.
I am truly praying for Whitney, I feel as if she is a family member, my heart goes out to her and her family. When I hear any of her songs I get the chills. Maybe her voice might not be what it use to be, but I for sure will still support her. I have all of her albums and I will continue to buy any and all of her records that she puts out. I am sssooo glad that she is taking her life back, and in a healthy way and with the help of Jahova. I pray that she continues to lean on him for support. When times get rough Whitney and you feel as though you can't go on I know that you can do it Whitney, and I will always be on your side just remember that you STILL have a lot of fans that trully love you.
May Jahova continue to bless you and keep you, and your family be strong Whitney. XOXOXOXO
I'm praying for all of the people involved with Whitney Houston, including Bobby Brown. Bobby needs intervention also, because after all they have their daughter to be concerned about. I hope Whitney and Bobby read all of the comments posted here, because it shows that many people care.
As for Courtney Love, this story is a crock. Every since, April Whitney has had many of her long time friends and her family urging her to get herself together. It's been all over the tabloids and on her fan cites.
It was Whitney's willingness to admit that she is totally broken and unable to be fixed by drugs and Bobby Brown.
Please remember to pray for Bobby Brown's intervention.
We are with you Whitney if GOD can forgive us for our sins I know we should be able to forgive you. I looked at your situation as an illness and now you are on the road to recovery. I wish you the best of blessings Whitney you have a second chance please don't blow it. Although I must say Robert Downey did several times before he got his life together didn't he. Anyway we will be praying for you Whitney. Love Ya Girl
First and foremost, God bless the child that has his own. Whitney remember the words to this song, when you sung it with such eloquence?
Forget all the negative hype; they criticized and crucified our creator. It's a blessing to see you have decided to turn your life around. No one knows but you and God your reason for why life brought you where it did. Sometimes it takes for us to hit rock bottom (spiritually, mentally and physically) before we begin to realize the true inner self as a whole.
I been there and I would not have done it any different; as it has taught we the "REAL" value and appreciation of life. There's an old saying, never bad mouth anyone until you have walked in there shoes.
WELCOME BACK!
