Brangelina Not Marrying Again Until Everyone Else Tries it First
Friday September 8, 2006

"Angie and I will consider tying the knot when everyone else in the country who wants to be married is legally able," Brad Pitt, 42 reveals in Esquire magazine's October issue, on newsstands Sept. 19. He’s not the first actor to make such an announcement. Actress Charlize Theron and her boyfriend, actor Stuart Townsend, have pledged that they won’t marry until homosexuals are legally granted the right to marry in the United States.

In the article obtained by the Associated Press, Pitt reflects on "fifteen things I think everyone should know."

Although he has a natural daughter with Angelina Jolie, Pitt says he "cannot imagine life" without his adopted children, Maddox, 5, and Zahara, 1. "They're as much of my blood as any natural born, and I'm theirs," says Pitt. "That's all I can say about it. I can't live without them. So: Anyone considering (adoption), that's my vote."

Pitt considers himself a laid-back parent.

"I try not to stifle them in any way," he says. "If it's not hurting anyone, I want them to be able to explore. Sometimes that means they're quite rambunctious."

"I feel it's really important to have that time to sit and talk to them," he continues. "I really like that last minute before they fade off. And always give them a heads-up before you jerk them out of something. You need to tell them, like, `You have three more minutes.'"

Yes, kudos to Brad Pitt -- always a philanthropist first! -- for encouraging parents around the world to actually speak to their children. Of course, the article didn't include the second half of Brad's goodnight sendoff which is, "You have three more minutes until I stop loving you forever if you don't go to sleep." (Works every time.)
