You know you’re in for one hell of a celebrity profile when the first sentence of the story starts “As John Mayer ambles over to his marijuana vaporizer…” Rolling Stone scored a fantastically scandalous interview with the sleepy-eyed crooner in its new issue, and we’re not just saying that because the magazine is published by the same company as Us. (Seriously.) Check out the following interview excerpts and see for yourself.
On porn:
“I bought myself a Playgirl once. I just loved the feeling that there was a porno you really, really weren’t supposed to have…Not to say I wouldn’t enjoy the energy of watching a guy and girl have sex. I think I’d vomit out of pure arousal. Have you ever seen a guy and girl have sex in person?”
On press interviews:
"I’m at a point right now where the more I talk, the more I’m going to say something in the next twelve months that’s going to damage my career.”
On Brangelina:
“Everyone thinks Brad Pitt has it great because he married Angelina Jolie. I think he has it terrible, because when Angelina Jolie is giving you a bl-w j-b, what do you tip your head back and think of to help you finish? You have nothing left – just Jesus on a polar bear in the middle of the snow saying, ‘You greedy motherf-cker, I’ve got nothing for you.’”
On being on tour:
“I slept with, like, three girls a week.”

This portrayal of the interview is a little ridiculous and deceptive. The succinct nature behind listing in bold denies context.
Brangelina + Private Parts were part of his stand up routine at some bar.
Mayer says, "Everyone begs me not to do stand-up. Everyone connected to my well-being and on my payroll says stand-up is terrible. When I say, 'I'm doing stand-up tonight,' they hear, 'I'm going to start heroin.'"
I'm surprised US didn't have a bold "On Drug Use: "I'm going to start heroin.""

I have to admit, the whole pot thing has never been an amiable quality to me. I suppose, that he is famous, and if he chooses to screw over his brain then let him do it. Becuase when he is old and gray he will have his huge pile of money to swim in. And plenty of girls that will still love him. So he can still get high, and everyone will love him. This is so funny. Watch as the girls all "lose respect" for him when he makes some comments about the girls he's been with. You know why this is? Because he doesn't care about you. He doesn't need to try and be "high-class" to impress you dumb girls.
I've personally gained more respect for him, and that he smokes pot makes me think higher of pot =p

And to all of you who said "I lost total respect for him because he smokes weed" need to chill. Nobody's perfect. I'm straight edge, and yeah I think it's wrong, but I have friends who drink and smoke every night. Seriously, don't judge a book by it's cover. There are more positives to John Mayer then negatives. um "john's biggest fan" i think you need to have a reality check...hes a huge stoner and if you didnt know that hes probably baked in most of his pictures then i dont think you can call urself the biggest fan. I think he can do whatever the bleep he wants to do and it will be sexy. This interveiw i think hes just talking w/ just another guy and doesnt care what anybody thinks. sooo there. and that "case" of yours...he probably got bad press bc of the first one and wanted to make up for it.

I may not agree with everything that John says or does but his music stand for itself. He is a genius. I find him fascinating, and hilarious actually. He is himself and does not give a bleep about who likes him or not, I respect that. But whether you do or don't aprove of him - read the entire interview! And about the part that he slept with three girls in a week! He says that a couple of years ago when he first starting touring he thought that's what he was supposed to do, so he slept with three fans in a week and actually felt awful about it after and he's never slept with a fan since then!
I find the rawness of him so fascinating!

It's safe to say that I've watched/heard/read every interview that is available on the Web from John Mayer and this one is TOTALLY different from all the other ones. I totally respect John Mayer and he is my favorite artist by far but this article is really suspicious.. it doesn't sound like him whatsoever. Just look up "John Mayer Dateline" on youtube and you'll see an interview that conveys him as a completely different person, almost angelic. He's not a poser, but he's on the coolest rock magazine around- of course he'll try to impress the cool guys. On another interview found on his blog:

A few people have commented saying that what is shown here was taken out of context as if it didn't sound just as bad in the article. I read the article in it's entirety and honestly it doesn't sound any better in context. I respected John Mayer so much for his music and his creativity and reading this article greatly disappointed me. Without a doubt he is still one of my favorite artists, but I've lost all respect for him as a person.

I read the Rolling Stone article before I read this, and this might have already been mentioned, but you quoted John Mayer incorrectly here. (Perhaps in an effort to skew his image negatively?)
The quote from the Rolling Stone article was, "I slept with, like, three girls in a week."
And you quoted him as saying, "I slept with, like, three girls a week."
You clearly omitted the "IN," an omission which makes a huge difference in the meaning of the sentence. If you're going to report fairly and journalistically, I suggest you be more careful in correctly relaying direct quotes in your articles.

It is official...the closed minded and naive are taking over the entire world...it's sad and frustratng reading all of these comments tearing John down. 1) John Mayer is clearly an intelligent person. One can tell by his lyrics, his past interviews, and his masterfully written music. 2) At least 40% of what is on this page is taken out of context, not to mention how much of the information that ROLLING STONE has miscontrued. 3) I don't believe he was trying to make himself seem cool, get back at anyone in highschool, or boost his image. I think he was being himself, and doesn't care what a bunch of people on an internet forum or any other fans who can't accept anyone who doesn't follow their lifestyle and doesn't have their beliefs thinks.
I'm not tearing any of you down - just trying to break down some of the logical flaws in people tearing John Mayer down from this interview. Before you judge so quickly, I recommend next time looking at some of his previous interviews and public expressions.

I just want to say... About "Being on tour" What he said was that in the beginning of his touring career, he slept with three fans in one week because he thought that was what he was supposed to do. He felt awful about it and never slept with a fan again.
