UPDATE: Dr. Drew Apologizes for Saying Tom Cruise Suffers From "Neglect"

Dr. Drew Pinsky "meant no harm" to Tom Cruise when he told Playboy that the actor's interest in Scientology is "a function of a very deep emptiness and suggests serious neglect in childhood – maybe some abuse but mostly neglect," his rep tells Usmagazine.com.

"[Dr. Drew] apologizes if his comments were hurtful," the rep says.

In response to Pinsky's remarks to Playboy, Cruise's attorney Bert Fields told the New York Post that Pinksy is an "unqualified television performer who is obviously just looking for notoriety [and] is so grotesquely unprofessional as to pretend to diagnose Tom and others without ever meeting them.

"He seems to be spewing the absurdity that all Scientologists are mentally ill," Fields said. "The last time we heard garbage like this was from [Nazi propagandist] Joseph Goebbels."

Pinsky's rep responded to Us: "Although Mr. Field’s intent is clearly to slander and discredit Dr. Drew, under no circumstances is Dr. Drew making a blanket diagnosis about Scientology nor Mr. Cruise whom he does not know. Dr. Drew was simply using Mr. Cruise as an example of someone who is recognizable to help the public understand. Again, Dr. Drew meant him no harm."

In 2006, Cruise said his late, estranged father was "a bully and a coward" and a "merchant of chaos."

"He was the kind of person where, if something goes wrong [he would] kick you," he told Parade.

Ahh...the truth is none of you would be slinging mud at Tom Cruise with the enthusiastic vim and vigor you are if he didn't go on record with opinions YOU disagree with.
His RELIGION and his ACTING ABILITY have NOTHING to do with his point of view. You don't like his point of view?

Fine.

Refute it on FACTS.

NOT by calling into question his looks, his sanity, his level of acting acumen or anything else. Everybody wants to kill the messenger if they don't like the message. Piss-poor way of rebutting an argument! Maybe because you don't know how.....?

Maybe Scientology IS a cult. Who cares? Maybe Tom IS a bad actor. Who cares? Maybe he WAS abused as a child. He has my sympathy for THAT, since that wasn't his fault, or his sisters', or his mother's.....

The thing is, even if you don't agree with ALL his opinions, some of them make sense, and SOME of them are right on the money. Make an EDUCATED argument against his points. Use FACTS. Do you remember what those are??

Bottom line, Dr. Pinsky shouldn't have made his diagnosis of Tom from afar, even if some of what he said could be true, because it's UNETHICAL. Any psychologist who's been through graduate school knows that. No P-doc worth his PhD makes an armchair diagnosis from across the country, and then cavalierly bruits it in public. It's at the very least in poor taste. He was correct to apologize to Tom. It would be prudent to watch your tongue in public in the future Dr. Pinsky, and leave your psychological expertise to those under your ACTUAL clinical care.

It is obvious that this site is being flooded by $cientologist minions. One way I can tell is that most $cientologists have limited vocabularies and have a tendency to butcher the English language. Also, they don't take any criticism or questioning of their fake religion very well! It's just hard to believe that there are people that delusional who would fall for this ridiculous hogwash without doing their OWN research - and thinking for themselves. Guess it seems easy to sit back and let someone else do your thinking for you. Does it mean anything that you have to PAY to practice this "religion?" When they tell you they can help you, what they really mean is that they want your money... and will keep finding reasons to make you take extra courses & go through more "auditing" to reach that unreachable "carrot-on-a-stick" that you'll never achieve. Take the Co$ blocker software off your computer that they gave you and do some research on Lisa McPherson - and also the testimonies of all the people who escaped, only after enduring misery and losing their life savings. THINK FOR YOURSELF. Stop letting someone else do your thinking for you. In this age of technology, "the truth it out there" on the web. Living in constant anxiety & fear is no way to live. Neither is being brainwashed by a bunch of moneygrubbing, self-serving psychos. They don't believe in psychiatry - because if their cultmembers had the proper treatment, they would wake up and see they're being conned.

In all seriousness, I do pity Tom for the emptiness in his life that drove him into a cult. I hope he soon realizes that he sees a totally different side of his "church" than the rank-and-file members do. The only thing differentiating his cult from Jim Jones' People's Temple, David Koresh's Branch Davidians & Marshall Applewhite's Heaven's Gate are the deluded, weak-minded celebrity spokespeople who naively shell out millions in the name of some pseudo-"religion" that began as a total farce by a con-man who was a failed science fiction writer. The more the general public learns about this fraud and all their criminal acts, the better. I admire Dr. Drew for speaking up about it. People should know the truth. I live in LA, i've been to the Scientology place, met them, read all about it, watched their 'promotional videos'..they are totally sick. completely totally bizarre brainwashing cult. they told every one of us there that they were 'not a religion so everyone was welcome' so they shouldnt get treated like a religion. whether you believe in religion or not these people are psychos. the whole thing was made up 30 years ago by L Ron Hubbard, they brainwash everyone, take their life savings, and kill you if you try to leave. Tom Cruise has a demented look in his eye and cant even talk without looking like he is going to strangle someone. I feel so sorry for Katie and that baby. Dr. Pinsky is a graduate of Amherst, an elite New England college (one of the nationally recognized top three in the nation, the other two being Williams and Swarthmore) and of the prestigious University of Southern California. Tom Cruise is not a college graduate. No doubt his lawyer is, but Cruise can afford to pay someone educated to make assinine remarks about Josef Goebbels. There is a difference between knowledge and opinion. Semi-educated ranters on the INTERNET tend to conflate the two. Pinsky rendered a professional opinion, albeit from a distance. BTW, Scientology is a form of gnosticism. I suggest those sputtering in annoyance at this post learn to use dictionaries and look up "conflate" and "gnosticism".

But, of course, common sense tells us that Tom Cruise had to compensate somehow for having a man not up to proper parenting as his father. His choice of religion fills that emptiness for him. Also I believe that people have the right to their own religion. I think that people should use their common sense when they choose that religion. Lolaz summed it up for me in her realization about Suri and Tom most likely not being the father. Afterall Nichole ended up having her own child while she and Tom could not while together. I agree it is most likely Chris Klein's baby and who knows how TOM has managed to avoid the facts.

One might feel sorry for him, how lonely and sad to have all he could desire but not be able to enjoy it due tolack of self and an oversized, irrational, unrealistic attitude and perception he has and displays repeatedly.

Go back to how he basically stalked Kate Holmes and basically watched her as if he was searching for the right subject to dominate and control and then mold into someone who he can control and brainwash into believing just about anything because she herself lacked a stable grounded perception of reality and infatuation, or simple obsession.

I feel sorry for the child, Suri. Simply she will be carrying on the unhealthy ways and legacy of what Tom's father did to him and is now doing to his wife and non-biological child.

Imagine her poor parents trying to reason with her, like someone who thinks crack or meth is their new best friend, sure feels good but give it time. Soon it will eat at your heart, soul, and sense of self leaving you empty, lonely, ashamed and wanting to die because you see no way out because you know the temptation (Tom) will always be there trying to lure you back in for the final kill.

Kate run for your family, take your child and get back to your true faith and ask GOD to forgive you for allowing other God's to come before him.
