Michael Lohan isn't thrilled his daughter has signed on to star in Manson Girls. (She will play one of the murderer's cult followers.)
"I really hope that Lindsay gets back to the kinds of films that led to her success," he told Usmagazine.com Thursday at the Celebrity Apprentice finale in NYC. "I'd like to see her do more mainstream films."
Lohan's past string of films — including I Know Who Killed Me and Bobby — have bombed at the box office. Chapter 27 — her latest movie opening this weekend — centers on the assassination of John Lennon.
Michael told Us those films "were geared to a specific audience."
"When you're the kind of star Lindsay is, you have to appeal to a general audience, not just a specific audience," he added.
Michael also told Us he was relieved those Callum Best sex tape rumors were put to rest.
"You don't know what people put out there anymore!" he said. "So many people have hidden cameras. Our private lives are our private lives — people don't respect that."
His daughter recently posed topless for New York magazine. Click here to see the shots.

What does he expect her to do: star in teen films for the rest of her life? She 21, not 16. She can't play the same roles over and over again. If she expects to still have a movie career, she needs to stretch her acting muscles, even if they don't make 20 mil at the box office. Mr. Lohan needs to stop doing interviews, get his own job, and let his daughters' acting choices speak for themselves.

Her dad isn't being realistic if he thinks Lindsay can put the genie back in the bottle so to speak. She can't do roles like "Freaky Friday" or "Parent Trap" anymore, possibly roles along the lines of "Mean Girls," but the former are roles for kids, and the latter was too good to be topped. I think Lindsay actually might have chosen a good role to prove her acting skills with this "Manson Girls" project, assuming the script is decent, because the premise is quite riveting. It's going to be a chance to flex her acting muscles and show her range. As for her box office flops, "Bobby" wasn't as bad as the ticket sales would lead you to believe. It was probably a really smart move to take that part in the long run because it was such a departure from the roles that became her bread and butter. I realize that Lindsay Lohan has been famous in recent years for partying and going to rehab, but she actually is a very good actress, and I think she has proven herself in her comedic roles, and now it's time to really sink her teeth into some good drama. I'll definitely see her in "Manson Girls." (By way, just in case anyone confuses what I'm saying, I'm not like pro-Charles Manson or his nutcase "family" of brainwashed cult members, but I do think that their story would make for an interesting film. So just wanted to point out that I'm in no way glorifying those weirdos at all. I probably didn't need to include that but just thought I'd let the record show I'm only responding to Lindsay Lohan's choice of roles and not whether or not the movie should be made). Thanks. :)

If she had a "real job" like the rest of us, she wouldn't get paid millions for it.
She needs to shut up, grow up, and show up sober and ready to "work" on set.
If she keeps up her past antics, she will be able to work a lovely 8-5 schedule for a few thousand/year and have more time available to do her partying!

LL should be thankful that ANYONE would hire her. I wonder if there is a "No clubbing" clause in the contract. I am also sure that her salary is minimal.
The days of LL earning a salary of $7.5 Million for "Just My Luck" are over.

1:38 you have clearly never worked in the entertainment industry. Yeah, we don't work 8-5. We work 6am-10pm...and that's a normal day. The fact that Lindsay is able to party on the schedule she has while on set is astounding. A normal person couldn't do it. That means she's operating on about 2 hrs of sleep every night if that. She suffered from exhaustion multiple times and it's no surprise. But she does know what it's like to get up at the crack of dawn and so does everyone else in the industry. Believe me, to us, taking a "Real" job would be the easy way out, but then we wouldn't be doing what we love.

As always, she's desperate for attention and she'll do whatever movie that will get her the most attention. Maybe she wouldn't be so focused on herself if she got a real job where she had to work from 8 to 5. Those of us who have to get up at the crack of dawn and drive to work every morning go to bed at a decent hour instead of partying at expensive clubs every night. This girl lives in a dream world.
