It has been reported that on July 11 at Hollywood comedy club The Laugh Factory, former Saturday Night Live star Jon Lovitz beat up jokester Andy Dick, whom he blames for fellow SNL alum Phil Hartman's death. In clips released today Dick, 41, denied that things ever got that physical...but he couldn't deny that he might have given Hartman's wife, Brynn, the cocaine that sent her off the wagon and into a downward spiral that eventually led her to kill the comedian and end her own life in 1997.
During a July 23 broadcast of Tom Green Live, Dick explained the Laugh Factory fracas. "I feel like maybe I started something that I meant as a joke and [Lovitz] just got really angry. He did take me by the lapels and throw me against the wall. And I was startled. Then I thought 'he's doing a funny'...But it wasn't one of his funny little characters."
As for the accusation that it was Dick who sent Brynn over the edge, Dick could only say, "Whether I gave Phil Hartman's [wife] cocaine...I don't know if I did or not." He then compared cocaine to "vitamin c" and asked host Tom Green if he would feel guilty if he unknowingly gave some to a person with a problem, who then died as a result.

While no one condones what Brynn did, she did what she did and you cant change it and bring Phil back. She left behind 2 beautiful children who have a very loving family that is raising them far away from the spotlight and the evil that surrounds being famous. Brynn was a very warm, caring person until she moved away and got hooked up in the spotlight being married to someone famous. Hollywood corrupted her and I blame them for what she did. Until you know someone personally and have seen what they have gone through, you should think twice about judging them.
Lets get the whole story!!! After what bleep did to Jon I do not blame him for hitting back at him.. Plus Jon said he never said bleep was to blame for Phils death..He had nothing to do with bleep because of Dicks drug addiction...Andy bleep is a lose cannon and a man I have no respect for..In turn a man I go out of my way to not see... You can take him or leave him, I will leave him and hope he goes away...

Jon Lovitz roughed up Andy bleep at the Laugh Factory in L.A. last week. Owner Jamie Masada said, “Jon picked Andy up by the head and smashed him into the bar four or five times, and blood started pouring out of Andy’s nose.”
Lovitz confirmed the altercation happened, adding, “All the comedians are glad I did it because this guy is a (bleep).”
Apparently bleep was the one who gave Brynn Hartman cocaine at a 1997 Christmas party after she had been sober for 10 years. Five months later she killed her husband, Phil Hartman, Lovitz’s “SNL” castmate and close friend, then herself.
Lovitz says he reminded bleep of this when Lovitz was brought on to “NewsRadio,” as Hartman’s replacement.
Then last year Lovitz was at a restaurant when bleep came by, took a drink from Lovitz’s guest, drank it and then said to Lovitz, “I put the Phil Hartman hex on you, you’re the next one to die.”
Last week Lovitz finally confronted bleep about the hex and bleep said he said it because “you said I killed Phil Hartman … which I never said. Then he asked me to be in his new movie.
“I grabbed him by the shirt and said ‘I don’t want to be in your movie! I don’t want to be in your life! Then I pushed him against the rail. Then I pushed him again really hard. I’m not proud of it … but he’s a disgusting human being.”
Samantha --- you crack me up w/your postings!! LOL
Great posts Samantha. Totally agree with you. Andy caused a lot of drama and got his payback. Nver liked that creep and while Lovitz isnt my favorite guy either, he had every right to kick that punk's a$$. Ultimately, Brynn was to blame for her actions, but Andy should have known better if he "claimed" to be a friend of Phil's.
I agree, that was their mom.
Yes, well that "creature" was still their mother. I'm not going to argue about it either, so save your time.
Nobody is writing "smack" about Phil Hartman. Everybody loved Phil Hartman and everyone has nothing but good things to say about him. People write "smack" about the creature he was married to.
I would just like to remind everyone that somewhere in America are two people (probably teenagers by now) who are reading all this smack about their dead mother and father. Can't be easy for them. Yes they had problems, but they were still people. And someones' loved ones. Just sayin.
And Andy will eventually do himself in, one way or another. It's only a matter of time. He's just one of the handful of Hollywood train wrecks waiting to happen.

Eh, it could be worse. I could be trying to debate the meaning of "is"...

Is Us censoring Andy's last name with the word bleep? Watch: Andy Dick, Andy Dick, Andy Dick, Andy Dick, Andy Dick.
I never claimed he was. But Phil Hartman was John's best friend. Andy bleep being an idiot who likes to "push the envelope" (which in his case is dropping his underwear to expose himself on stage...) is no excuse. Do you know what the word "retard" means? Even without context to a person, if you retard something, you slow it down, be it the process it goes through or etc. Like when you retard the growth of a plant using chemicals or whatever. An example of this in human terms, in case you are still confused - Ever watch professional gymastics? Ever wonder why every single girl on there is 4'11 and has no chest? That is because from a very young age, they were given pills to "retard" their growth, so that they will forever stay a 9 year old girl physically. Now, with that being said, Andy Dick's brain is retarded. I don't know if it has to do with the massive amount of drugs he has done, he ate paint chips as a kid, or whatever. But his brain functions SLOWER than a normal human being. When he does the "retarded" stuff he does, or says, it doesnt register the same way as it would with a person who is NOT retarded. But he isnt so retarded that he doesnt understand WHAT he has done, it just takes a minute. Imagine him putting his hand over a hot flame. It will be there, 20 - 30 seconds before his brain tells him, "Hey, its hot, move your hand." Eventually it gets there...you get the point. John Lovitz did not attack him RIGHT after he made his comment. It was much later, after John saw him and said, "Hey guy, remember when you said this to me?" And Andy Dick, who tried to deny it, THEN leaned in to him SMILING and said, "well I said it because you said I killed Phil Hartman." Which John didn't say, he snapped, slammed him against the bar. He could have done much worse. Sorry for the essay, I just didnt want you to get confused again.
LOL LOL they 'bleeped' the guy's name - ok, instead of bleep or the dude's last name, put Andy in the comment - lol so inane
Reading some of the responses made on this website only confirms my distrust in trial by jury. I would not want the majority of you bias, self absorbed and tunnel visioned individuals making a 'court' decision for me.
The man is suppose to be an adult and act like one, no one thinks bleep is sane, so what comes from his mouth should never be taken to heart. The retard statements made on here have me confused - do you even understand what retarded means? Lovitz is far from a 'clean' soul.
Did they even listen to John Lovitz' radio interview? He said on there EXACTLY why he slammed that little retard into the bar. Apparently Andy bleep said to him, "I put the Phil Hartman hex on you, you are the next one to die." I would have slammed his bleep against the wall too! Maybe even broken a bottle over that huge head of his. He has a face for radio, and the perfect voice for a mime act. I can't stand that @ss clown.
Vince, you are really freaking me out. Do you have any idea what cocaine is doing to your heart? You might not have an addiction to it but wait 25 years, you'll drop dead from heart failure.

I hope you were joking because you sound just retarted making a statement like that. It's ok to give people coke. The drugs an drinking are why Hollyweird is the butt of a lot of jokes. The whole " everyone does it" is a statement that a 14 yr old would make. Let's not get to the point where handing out coke like it's food is ok. We would be in SERIOUS trouble if the whole country lived and acted like the people in Hollywood.
I agree, Brynn is the only person that killed Phil.
If you truely believe that it's ok to hand out coke, please for the sake of everyone else, don't have kids. All you would be doing is creating more drug addicted problem people.
I hate Andy Dick. I remember when he was on that old TLC show, Trading Spaces. He hired someone to do the work on his behalf, because he didn't want to paint. Hello! That's kind of the point.
There's nothing wrong with giving people coke. Here in Hollywood, everybody has it - and everybody is doing it. Some people just can't handle their drugs, I mean look at Lindsay Lohan. She's another person that should stay away from the blow.
So what, bleep gave Brynn some nose candy, she's the one that freaked out. It's not like you can't tell someone has just snorted a few rails. Hartman was probably right there knocking them down with her until he pissed her off somehow and she went balistic.
Brynn Hartman was troubled even without the drugs. Plus, if I remember correctly she was on more than just cocaine. He probably did give her cocaine and is an enabler. Does that make a contributor to what happened? Yes. Does it make him responsible? No. We can't know what the turn of events would have resulted in if she had never got that cocaine. I think many people want to blame the drugs because they just don't want to believe she would do such a thing. Who's to say that this still wouldn't have happened? So Andy bleep lives up to his name, but didn't kill either of them, but also didn't help them either.
No one killed Phil Hartman but his wife - Andy did not force her to take the stuff. When will people start taking responsibility for what they do and stop balming others for their mistakes? Granted, she is dead, so no excuses, but all around feel they have a take on it. NO ONE forced her to get high nor shot Hartman nor shot herself.
Hey, no one is to blame but Brynn. I think there were other drugs found in her body besides cocaine. How could he or anyone else possibly know what would happen? John Lovitz is completely over reacting.
No one can tell the future!!!
Well, his name fits him!!!! This guy is known for being a jerk. Maybe he will keep his mouth shut now. Hope he is proud of his life. Pathetic!!
The only person responsible for Brynn Hartman's actions was Brynn Hartman. Perhaps Andy is guilty of poor judgment, but that's it. People need to take responsibility for their own actions - mental illness or not, drugs or not. Brynn was a grown woman with a grown mind, she knew what she was doing when she starting doing cocaine. Shame on Andy for enabling his friend's addiction, but something tells me she would have gotten the cocaine with or without Andy's help.
I think Andy bleep Sucks Ass. He can go straight to hell as far as I'm concerned.
OMG! I never heard about any of this up until now. Is this news or had there been rumors or accussations that Andy bleep might be responsible for Phil and Brynn Hartman's deaths by giving an unstable woman cocaine? Unbelievable. Sorry, but vitamin c is relatively harmless (unless taken in massive doses or in conjunction with certain medications that it might render less potent by taking it) whereas cocaine is a narcotic that can cause major problems in otherwise healthy people who use it. So, if her "problem" was a mental one, then yes, he was absolutely wrong by giving her cocaine. Lets give a psychotropic drug to someone with psychological problems. What a moron. If he thought she was sick and needed something to help her, then he should have told someone who could help her and/or encouraged her to seek professional help. I think that's awful. Jon Lovitz was right in going after him. I'm so sick of these celebs (and anyone else who feels this way) that drugs are no big deal as long as you're not driving. Drugs that people would take to get high by their very nature alter your perceptions of reality. If they didn't, no one would take them. And if you can't grasp reality as it is, then there's a risk you may act out in an unhealthy and/or violent way. I'm surprised he didn't get brought up on charges of some kind. I'm not that familiar with the law, but to give cocaine to someone with mental and emotional problems who then went on to commit murder and suicide while on cocaine, it seems somehow criminal.
Even though Andy may have been the supplier, the only one who picked up that gun and killed Phil was his wife. Drugs was just an excuse among many as to why she killed him. She was nuts without the drugs.
