A secret wedding, a new baby and a child support battle on the horizon -- Spice Girl Melanie Brown has a lot to talk about.
And the Brit also known as Scary Spice opened up about them all for the first time on Thursday night's Larry King Live.
Brown wasted no time lashing out against ex Eddie Murphy, the father of her five-month-old daughter Angel Iris. In June, Murphy, who had initially denied being the father, was forced by the court to take a paternity test that proved Angel is his daughter.
"I think the most important thing to me is that Angel knows her dad," she told King. "And her dad is Eddie Murphy, and she has every right to know who he is."
She continued about her ex, "I think he's been extremely disrespectful and I don't think anybody should be allowed to get away with saying what he said whilst I was pregnant...Even when the DNA test results were in there was still nothing further said, which I found baffling. After all this, and still nothing? It's unacceptable."
Murphy only baffled Brown further with a statement that King read aloud on the broadcast, in which he denied Brown's claims that her pregnancy was planned by the couple, and asked for the matter to be handled privately.
"I wish we could handle it privately," she said, "But when my name is thrown out there when I'm four months pregnant, with the...'is it mine, I don't know,' of course I'm going to stand up for myself."
Still, both King and some viewers who sent in email questions wondered what exactly she wants from Murphy.
Brown explained: "I was waiting and hoping that he would do what he said he was going to do which was take care of the situation and be responsible. I believed that."
Seeking sole legal and physical custody of Angel Iris, Brown, 32, and lawyer Gloria Allred specified that any court action is simply to establish Murphy's legal paternity and a reasonable amount of child support.
The jilted Brown still showed that Murphy meant something to her, telling King, "At the end of the day the person that I fell in love with was amazing." But she quickly followed with, "The person that I know now...I'm kind of apalled."
On the happier topic of her June 6 secret marriage to movie producer Stephen Belafonte, Brown revealed, "We wanted it to be a private thing right now, and a commitment just for me and him. That was important."
And would she like to have children with him as well?
"Yeah, I'd like to, of course."

Hot Stuff: Mel B. Gives Eddie Murphy Legal Scare
Eddie Murphy is the Father of Mel B's Baby
Report: Murphy to Submit DNA to Court
Afternoon Delights: Just Like Us, Brit Loves Us!Categories: Eddie Murphy | Melanie Brown | Child Custody | Paternity
I Agree 100% with the post by Elledriver. Eddie Murphy is simply a Beverly Hills "cock". He has cheated with every woman he has ever been with and I hope Mel B does milk him for child support. Why shouldn't he pay...He hopped in the sack didn't he?
mel is a gold digger her spice girl career was over long time ago.Eddie ain't even a good looking man and he is gay you can tell the only reason he is remarrying is because he has to keep his public image. and tracey gold digger as well look up history on how she met babyface, her mom set that one up.they are all out to use one another as far as i'm concerned.
if melb wants eddie to be a loving father, why is she seeking SOLE CUSTODYof their child?
OK, Mel B had a baby in April (a planned baby from the man she was in love with (Eddie Murphy). ME THINKS THOW DOTH PROTEST TO MUCH MEL B! How did she have a baby in April, and then get married to some guy in June???? Do the math. So, she is nursing, going thru that awful after pregnancy thing, and found time to date, and marry in less than 2 months???? Hmmmm......Something tells me Mr. Scary Spice was there before which is why Eddie Murphy did not believe her filthy lies and wanted a paternity test. Eddie had his wife and family and Scary Spice saw Eddie as a meal ticket and Eddie is tooooo smart for that. No Way would Eddie EVER be a dead beat Dad, but Scary Spice sure has proven to be a low-class, gold-digging, wh*** who is milking this for all it is worth and how ironic before they all go on tour again! Scary Spice is exactly that--SCARY AND SHE SHOULD SHUT UP.
Mel B. is milking this for all it's worth. She is broke since she used up all her money from the Spice Girls so she wants to get millions from Eddie. I agree he's a jerk for denying his child but she is out of control. She planned on getting pregnant so she could get his money.
Most of you seriously need a LOBOTOMY.
Eddie Murphy publicly cheated on his wife Nicole countless times with prostitutes (thereby ending their 12-year marriage), dumped Mel B while she once she got pregnant and immediately started dating Tracey Edmonds (whom he is now engaged to, after dating for 5 months). In fact, it was during the Oscar telecast when he first announced to tv cameras that he was seeing Tracy, and in the same breath denied being the father of Angel Iris, when the question was brought up. Astonishing. (Reporters couldn't do a follow-up with him later, as he quickly stormed out of the auditorium in the middle of the telecast, once he lost his award, dragging poor Tracey along with him - real classy.)
And really, most of you think that Mel B is the villain here? That she should have simply "kept her legs and her mouth shut", more or less? I hate to break it to you people, but Eddie is a grade-A a**hole and has been for a very LONG time. HE should get himself "fixed" if he doesn't want to have any more kids (he's got SEVEN now - with THREE different women) The guy ain't hurting for money, and can at least be a MAN and own up to his responsibilities.
I would love for Eddie go on Larry King and tell his side of the story. I think the fact he hasn't not spoken publicly gives her more time to damage his character.
Eddie has responded and it is extremely disparaging of Mel B. He says that Mel assured him she was on birth control and exposed that she was out of money and trying to latch on to his gravy train to shore up her negative bank account. Well? Also alluded to the fact that her new husband is not the offspring of Harry Belafonte which assumed was his father.
The child does deserve to know who her father is and, thanks to DNA, she does. Trouble is, she has a mother who has manipulated her birth, and her namesake for her own ends and means AGAINST her father. The negativity, bitterness, anger, digust and betrayal that exists between them will only harden from her using this blessing of a child to punish him. The child product that will be raised from these circumstances will suffer as a result.
Put simply, ladies please don't have children for men that don't want you - or them. The same government that has granted you the right to financial support, has also allowed that women do not have to become pregnant if they don't want to. That wasn't always so in this country's great history. And, even with money, that same government can never guarantee you a father to love and care for your child.
First, not only is there a raging war going on, but there are also many parts of the Constitution being shredded, too. So, certainly, there are many other important issues of the day. Granted.
My interest in this is not because of Eddie and Mel, per se. But more from the point that there are millions of children that grow up isolated, unloved, low-esteemed, and just generally screwed up due to situations like this. Myself being one of them....
Again, I'm not letting the men in these situations off. I'm only saying that for 34 years women have demanded (and been legally granted) the right to control their own bodies. But, they only speak of another interested party after THEY decide whether to have that child. If Eddie did not want the child, tough bleep. But, if Mel didn't want it, it'd still be tough bleep for Eddie - she could not have it without his consent. SHE is in total control of the situation.
To me, exercising her government established right to child support from the father of the child directly enriches HER - causing what should be a serious conflict. Obviously, from the hiring (of all people) Gloria Alred, she is not intending to ask for mere "support" of the child's needs. She is going for the jugular. Using what as her weapon, you ask? THE CHILD. That, disgusts me. And, this child is far from being on welfare to be "taken care of by the taxpayer" regardless of what Eddie does or not. Mel B is quite capable of taking the FULL responsibility of her "choice" in the same way she made her decision - ON HER OWN!!!!!
I don't think she's asking for a whole lot. She wants the father of her child to recognize that he has a daughter. What kind of man will knowingly sleep with a woman without protection and then have the nerve to cast judgement on the female because she got pregnant. it takes two to tangle. He is the one who started this bashing in the press by denying that it was his and shaming her; and now that the water is too hot he wants to get out of the boiling pot. After all the speculation she's had to endure, he owes her an apology and he owes the child (an innocent party) his respect (that is in the form of his presence, money, and other wise). If he liked her enough to bed her for a few months he can tolerate her enough to see his child. More over, he is engaged to a woman he was obviously dating at the same time he was sleeping with Mel B. He isn't a better person because now he has to shut up since the truth was in her favor and I stand behind her fully because he is truly acting like a jerk. He's got five kids already, what's one more?
And shame on the current fiance of his, a woman who stands by such a callous man is certainly questionable. But I've been questioning Tracy Edmonds (shouldn't u get ur maiden name back now)from the get go. she's a lucky girl from a video shoot who the star found intrguing enough to take home and wife. Eddie should be careful, a gold digger's stripes don't change...
12:20 PM Anonymous Says:
Excuse me, but isn't it supposed to happen the other way around? You say your vows, make it official and then start a family.
Oh yes T-Rex tried to say that last week and they attacked her. Mel wouldn't be in this mess if she had held that thought.
If she married someone that fast, then maybe Eddie had a good reason to be upset and unsure. She certainly sounds a little shady to me.
Get over it already. Gloria Allred is a total ass-wipe. Who cares about any of these people. They obviously like publicity and money most of all. What does that say about them?
Both of them are idiots. Mel said they planned to have a baby and then get married. Excuse me, but isn't it supposed to happen the other way around? You say your vows, make it official and then start a family. She left herself open for this if you ask me, but Eddie is still an a-hole for not stepping up to the plate.
FOR THE MOM...
I am sure that Eddie is going to be financially responsible BUT that is the only thing Mel can make him do. She knows who the father is, she can not force to do anything else but make him pay child support. She is coming out in public looking more interested in wanting her life with Eddie - but to her surprise he does not love her. She needs to keep this child issues private for her daughters sake.
Yes, Eddie should have capped it if he did not want more children but she also should have crossed it - if they were not in a committed or long term relationship.
Oh yeah this is how bright she is - I bet she made a mistake in marrying this other guy - up until now she never mentioned before. She is looking like a moron.
Silence needs to be her best defense right now......
Hey..guess what. There's a war going on and people are dying right now...this second.....Who f**ng cares about this worthless crap?
ALL YOU PEOPLE BASHING HER ARE F****ING IDIOTS!!!!!!!! HE IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THAT CHILD, BOTTOM LINE, IT TAKES TWO TO TANGO IF HE DIDN'T WANT A KID MAYBE HE SHOULD HAVE WRAPPED IT UP, HE IS PATHETIC ALL HE IS IS A BREEDER WHO MAKES KIDS ALL OVER AND DOES NOTHING TO BE THERE DAD, HE WILL KNOCK UP THIS NEW ONE AND LEAVE HER TOO, IT IS HYSTERICAL THAT YOU ARE BASHING HER AS THOUGH SHE IS AT FAULT, UM HELLO SHE COULDN'T HAVE GOTTEN PREGNANT WITHOUT HIS SPERM IDIOTS!!!!!!!!!!
Responding to comments from "Deadbeat Dad":
For your information, Mr. Murphy has a legal obligation to support children he creates. You seem to like the concept of "choice", well Mr. Murphy chose to have unprotected sex with someone he now is claiming no interest in. Instead of keeping his bleep in his pants, he knocked her up. Th government has decided, long ago, that children are entitled to support from their fathers-and that the responsible party-that would be dead-dad Eddie Murphy here, should pay and not the taxpayers-via welfare.
You commit the crime, you do the time! You men are not entitled to go around spreading your seed and not deal with the consequences. Why didn't he just abstain or at least wear a condom? Did Ms. Brown sexually assault him? PLEASE!!
And no woman would make such a story so public unless the father really did just back out and deliberately try to humiliate the mother. Murphy probably had some overpaid conniving little attorney send her some sort of proposed agreement, whereas he would pay some laughably small amount of child support, in exchange for Brown agreeing to keep all hush-hush, even to the child.
Eddie Murphy got what was coming to him. And that girl has a right to know who her father is.
No, you hold on there, hey now.....if a woman lives into her thirties and has figured out how NOT to have children to that point, she knows how to protect herself from an unwanted pregnancy.
Now, before you protest, I'm not letting the man off the proverbial hook. But, I am saying that two consenting adults (with the woman reserving the right to "choose") don't consent without some type of agreement. You know, what time are we hooking up? Who's gonna bring the condoms? Who's on birth control? What kind of relationship is this? Serious, or just fun? Etc., etc.
These are adults. Certainly, if she'd said oh I don't know something like, "Eddie, I'm not on any sort of birth control and this is my most fertile time of the month....one contact with you sperm will probably impregnate me", then HE could've taken that responsibility.
However, if she said, "I've been on the pill for 20 years and have no intention of having ANYONE'S child. I'm allergic to latex and I understand that we're not on that level" then she is agreeing to the construct of whatever their arrangement was and should abide by that.
It is obvious by the turn of events that he "should've" protected himself. But, it seems to me that he trusted that he was in a consenting situation with another adult responsible enough to handle that situation and respect his desire not to have any children. Comments like "he should've insisted" or "it takes two" are ALWAYS in hindsight and never deal with what the agreement between the two consenting adults was.
Funny, you never hear women say that a man should insist on using protection BEFORE they're pregnant. Maybe because that's the time that they're too busy saying, "oh, you don't need a condom, I'm protected".
Come on you met him in two second and you get pregnat. What do you expect him to do?
This isn't Eddie's fault. She's supposed to take care of birth control and obviously she didn't. I feel so sorry that Eddie is getting dragged though the ringer on this. I do hope she was good so that at least he has something to show for this.
Okay Mel be quite you have to accept some of the blame for this. Eddie Murphy seems like a decent guy to me and not someone who would turn his back on his child. He didn't do it with the first child he had with his former wife, they weren't married at the time and he took care of the child and her till they finally settled down.
I suspect Mel may have been seeing her current husband at the same time she was seeing Murphy and that is why he was questioned paterinity. Let's look at the facts she married this guy in June & she only split with Murphy in Feb/March there may have been some overlap. I do belive that Murphy will do what's right since that's what he always has done, but he will do it queitly. He has never talked much about his personal life or his family in the past why would he do it now? Murphy is doing what he has always done keeping his family out of the press and I belive hopping this will die down. The only comment he has made in public was the once questioning paternity which I belive was made out of anger. Mel is the one turning this into a media frenzy and for the sake of her child she needs to stop.
There are to sides to every story and Murphy is behaving like an adult by not broadcasting his side of the story in public! Imagine how this kid is going to feel when she grows up knowing that her paternity was made such a big deal of in public by her mother. At least she will be able to know that her father didn't make a big deal of it and quietly accepted his responsility, I appalaude Eddie for his disgrestion. Also before anyone attacks me for my spelling I am aware of the fact I can't spell very well, so don't bother mocking it!
Yeah, it takes two, but protect yourself from becoming pregnant with a guy you've known for less than 6 months. My God, does anyone have any shame anymore??
Eddie Murphy is a complete social parasite for not stepping up to his responsibilities. He's sleaze. There's nothing else to say.
Mel B, on the other hand, knows a media storm when she sees one and she is going to use this whole thing to get as much media exposure as she can - and only a complete fool would believe that its "all for her kid".
hold on a second, "deadbeat dad". While I too wonder how sincere Ms. Brown's intentions are- it takes two to tangle. Mr. Murphy should have insisted on using protection if he was certain he did not want more children; he should NOT have taken her word that she was protected from pregnancy.
If what she says is true, which I doubt, they planned for this child. Then why didn't they get married first? They are obviously not opposed to the idea. That leads me to believe she is full of sh!t. She got knocked up and is bitter.
Oh puhleeeeze.....It never ceases to amaze me how women claim the "right to choose" as a sole right belonging ONLY to them - as it is THEIR body that's involved with whichever decision is made. However, once a woman "chooses" to have a child - 10 minutes after delivery she's looking for the first child support check. I thought "GIRL POWER" was about women being empowered? How powerful is it to be chasing down a rich man for money and begging him to be a real father to the child you both know/knew he didn't want?
Look, Ms. Brown, YOU started shagging a newly divorced father of five. He (quite believably) claims that he was clear about NOT wanting to have anymore children. Still, YOU consented to having unprotected sex with him after 4 months of dating and, SURPRISE, got pregnant.
Like many women, you've made the "choice" to have bring a child into this world in a situation other than that of a part of a loving, committed family. I commend you for this, I'm sure it was not easy. However, now that you've made that "choice" - on your own and, apparently, against his will - you should be willing to live with the consequences of that "choice".
Whatever you do, please stop this ridiculous publicity tour designed to garner support for your child support petition against him (why else would she be on Larry King?). To me, it only exposes you as one of the many millions of women that use their illegitimate children as tools in the ongoing battle with the men they hate. Hiring Gloria Alred is also VERY suspect. In the end, this behavior only damages everyone involved. You, the father, and - especially - the child you would claim to care so much about.
As a woman I do belive Eddie is a total jerk and very disrespectful to her and to his child by saying that while she is pregnant. I think he should applogize to her in public Since the damaged was done in public. They are celebrites he should know better.
And mel ...now it is all over .We know he is responsible for the baby he brought to this world ,she got hubby she should move on. I am tired of them never ending boring things . Don't make this something that go annoyingly forever like Brad and Jen thing.
