Forbes: Madonna Named Richest Woman In Music; Britney Spears No. 14

Madonna is the richest woman in music, according to Forbes.

She earned $72 million between June 2006 and June 2007, thanks to her album sales, merchandising and broadcast deals, endorsements, H&M fashion line and Confessions tour, which grossed $260 million.

Her global Confessions tour pulled in another $260 million.

Britney Spears ranked 14th on the list, earning $8 million from old hits royalties and sales of her fragrances with Elizabeth Arden, which grossed $55.4 million in 2006.

No. 3: Celine Dion, $45 million
No. 4: Shakira, $38 million
No. 5: Beyonce, $27 million
No. 6: Christina Aguilera, $20 million
No. 7: Faith Hill, $19 million
No. 8: The Dixie Chicks, $18 million
No. 9: Mariah Carey, $13 million

Hilary Duff, Avril Lavigne and Martina McBride each banked $12 million.

Following Spears at No. 14: Carrie Underwood and Nelly Furtado ($7 million each); Fergie, Jennifer Lopez and Sheryl Crow ($6 million each); and Norah Jones ($5.5 million).
