Lauren Conrad: "Hurt and Disappointed" by Attacks Over Animal Benefit

 Duffy-Marie Arnoult/WireImage.com  Lauren Conrad is defending herself from accusations she walked out of Animal Fair magazine's "Paws for Style" benefit for the Humane Society in NYC Tuesday. "I have always been responsible and keep my word on all commitments," she wrote on her MySpace blog Wednesday. Animal Fair editor Wendy Diamond alleged that Conrad had ripped off the Humane Society by skipping out on a portion of the fashion show. Diamond also said Conrad's trip to NYC was paid for by Animal Fair. "I am extremely hurt and disappointed that Wendy Diamond would go to the press and attack me with untrue statements," Conrad responded. "I agreed to pose for the cover of the magazine, host the event, do press at the event and donate clothing, all of which I did. I was not aware of any other commitments," she continued. The Hills star, 22, denies she was paid for the event and says her hotel room was donated to the charity – and a source tells Usmagazine.com that she more-than covered the cost of her plane ticket with a donation. (See photos of stars with dogs.) "Anyone who knows me, knows this is not the kind of person I am or who my parent's raised me to be," she added. "It's just embarrassing that people are saying these things about me. Conrad says she put the interests of the Humane Society first. "I was trying to do a good thing and help out a charity by doing everything I agreed to do," she wrote. "I continue to support the Humane Society, as it is a wonderful organization."

The HS hands those poor little things out,without actually knowing if they're going to a good home, or not. Not only do they require references from the vet if you have other animals but they also visit your home.

I feel so bad for Lauren because Wendy is just using this as PR which is so unprofessional. You can tell by how quickly she came out to attack Lauren in the press that she was blowing this up to get more press for her magazine. If Lauren really did step out on her requirements a normal professional would not have come out the next day trashing her as that is totally unprofessional, she would have spoken to Lauren and her people. Instead Wendy contacted everyone and anyone to discuss this which proves this is all for PR.

I don't know Lauren but if history has told anything, Lauren has always remained responsible and committed to the projects she works on. That is why she is always working and working with reputable company/organizations. I don't know this Diamond person, however, if I had to work with her, I would be apprehensive that she would betray our confidence. If I don't fulfill my contract, let's discuss or sue me. Don't bash my name. Grow up, this is the professional world. I seriously doubt this blip will hurt LC's hard work and progress.

I can see how Wendy Diamond is using this as a PR stunt. I think it's really in bad taste to detract from the dogs and cats and draw attention to herself. Diamond may have an 'animal' magazine but it's not because she really cares for animals, it's more that she's concerned about celebrity.

I am not saying the Lauren is not a little bit spoiled but if you watched her show...she never leaves anything unfinished. And with the way Diamond was treating her at the show was terriable. Lauren should have left. How can you ask someone to come and support than bad mouth them! I hope Diamond get what she has coming to her because makeing a bigger name for herself is not as important as helping them dogs!

I would rather see Luke Goss on this site than the same loser's...Lauren goes to the function does what she was asked and the editor runs to a gossip site.I am tired of these charities asking & paying for these celeb to come and help them raise money and when they do they complain.Most of the time it is just someone not being clear what they expect from the celeb. It wouldn't even make sense for her to run out and leave the event in the manner this lady is talking about. I definitely think Lauren is a spoiled brat, but I don't see her as trying to make a waves with anyone at a charity event. Since wehn does an editor for any reputible magazine make comments to Perez Hilton or any of these other smut magazines.

How tacky of Diamond to make these accusations publicly. When you hire a celebrity to host an event for you, you don't slander their name afterwards. If she had a problem, she should have taken it up with Lauren. Lauren presented her side of the story well. She is always classy in the way she responds to any "feuds" in her life. Way to make an issue out of an otherwise great event Diamond.

I was at this event and I have to say that I'm with Lauren on this one. The fashion show was so disorganized and Wendy was like a crazy person yelling at Lauren backstage. Lauren was in tears. If I was Lauren, I would have left too.

I believe her. I saw a clip on the news while she was on the red carpet and the reporter asked her about walking in the fashion show. Lauren looked completely confused and had no idea she was supposed to walk in the show. That Wendy lady was unprofessional going to Perez Hilton with her story and lied paying $10,000. to have Lauren come. She is just looking for press and donations for her magazine at Lauren's expense. I think she sounds like a bad person.

Who cares who's telling the truth. They're only concern in the first place, should be finding GOOD homes for those poor little dogs. Which by the way, some of those people wouldn't mess with at all, if they weren't getting payed for it. I heard they were against the law on making those, other than legit.breeders, get their dogs spayed and neutered, due to all the money and jobs that would be lost, by doing so. Just imagine all those people getting payed, to put all poor little dogs to sleep, once or twice a wk.. I don't have much use for the Humane Society.
