Amid controversy over her upcoming album My December, Kelly Clarkson has fired her manager.

A source confirms to Usmagazine.com that Clarkson has fired LA-based Jeff Kwatinetz, of the management company The Firm. "It happened last night. They disagreed over the songs and the direction. Everyone is surprised," says the source, who adds that Clarkson has not yet decided on a new manager. Another source adds, "Kelly had enough."

The pop star released a statement Tuesday night, saying: "I have been so fortunate to be supported by so many talented people in all corners of the music business. Those guys at the Firm did a good job and I really appreciate everything they did."

Clarkson and RCA head, Clive Davis, debated over the direction of My December. A source close to Clarkson told Us that although the feud between them was "overblown," there were creative differences. The source adds the tug-of-war "was hard on Kelly" and that "it's a struggle that happens all the time."

Clarkson has not kept her dissatisfaction with the way reps and record label execs have handled her new album a secret. The singer recently told Elle Magazine: “I’ve sold more than 15 million records worldwide, and still nobody listens to what I have to say. Because I’m 25 and a woman.”

The magazine also reports that she fought with her label and representatives over her Idol Gives Back performance. "My label wanted me to sing 'Never Again,' and I was like, to promote yourself on a charity event is beyond crass. People are starving and dying and I'm up there singing some bitter pop song? And believe me, everyone wanted me to sing it. Because they are jaded and they have no soul. Imagine sitting in a room full of people totally against you. Can't they hear themselves speaking? Capitalize on AIDS? Are you kidding? Insulting an entire nation of people? I just refused."

What is wrong with society these days. I work as a magazine editor and i am so tired of seeing the same thing. When a celeb is big people pick them apart piece by piece until they lose the weight then theyre suddenly "anorexic" they are under so much pressure and i think kellys portraying a healthy image and handling herself well with all the hollywood pressures. You tend to focus on her becuz shes in the spotlight but if she wasnt famous would you care so much about her physical appearance? I dont think so. For those that have nothing good to say, you must be pretty insecure with yourselves to sit there and dog on other people.

I understand that everyone is entitled to their own opinion but these comments are so prejudice. And I know that some of the ppl commenting about how "fat" kelly is, are probably overweight themselves. Kelly may not be skinny like every other celeb that you see but who cares, if she thought she was so overweight im sure shed do something about it. Also the camera adds a lot of weight so you shouldnt judge someone on their appearance because they may be a really nice person

I admire Kelly for her integrity and for standing up to her label. Look what has happened to the likes of other female singers who turned over control of their careers - and essentially their lives - to men who see them as nothing more than a commodity. The fact that she refuses to be manipulated by them or by what society expects her to be speaks volumes. She could obviously care less what anyone (including small-minded people who are only concerned with her looks) thinks. The girl has a brain. Way to go Kelly!

Of course Kelly is going to take things seriously this is her career and her life we are talking about! She is in a business where it is easy to be surrounded by people NOT looking out for her best interest. In the end she has to do what is right for HER and what makes HER happy. There is no reason for her to put out a Cd full of bubblegum pop crap that she doesn't want to sing. She is the one that has to sing these songs every single night so it should be ones that she wants. Good for her not being afraid to stand up for what she believes. She is doing what she loves and won't be forced to change and you have to respect that. She's been around for awhile she knows what she is doing and does have some positive people in her life she can go to for advice. Good things will keep coming to her because she deserves it!

I think Kelly's taking herself a tad too seriously these days and being too picky about things. Her career may suffer for it. That being said, it may have been a good decision to fire that manager of hers, if she can replace him with someone better, because from the stories she tells, it sounds like he wasn't sticking up for her enough. Your manager has to have your back.
