Jordin Tootoo is the first Inuk athlete to make it to world-class professional hockey. On October 9, 2003, he played his first shift for the Nashville Predators of the National Hockey League.
Tootoo is Rankin Inlet's biggest sports star ever and a role model for Inuit young people; a mural of him hangs in the local youth centre. The Nunavut territorial government features Tootoo and four local teenagers on an inspirational poster encouraging young people to stay in school and set goals.

gee, look at those people, did you guys know the word "eskimo" is a racist word? will it is. they perfer to be called inuit not eskimo. i know, because i met one before. jordin and kellie are cute couple. they really like each other. how would you feel if people talk bad things about you that is not true? i know you would get angry. and how would you feel if some one call you racist names? you guys should act like grown up, not like 8 years old child. TREAT PEOPLE THE WAY OU WANT TO BE TREATED.

My husband knows Jordon Tootoo and his family personally. He grew up with them in Churchill MB. Not only is he a stand-up guy and an awesome hockey player, but I think he can assess for himself whether Kellie was being insulting. Jordan has referred to himself as Eskimo on many occasions and is probably the term he uses when speaking to Kellie about his family and friends. I don't understand why most people are so offended by her comment. She was talking about Jordan and I can asure you she never meant to offend anyone. Jordan Tootoo is an excellent ambassador for his hometown and the Inuit, his fans should be supporting his relationship with Kellie if they really want what is best for him. She makes him happy, and that makes me and my hubby happy for our friend, Jordan Tootoo "The Eskimo".

P.S. I have a great picture of my eldest son (who was two at the time) with Jordan the summer before he left for the first Pred's training camp.

Y'all need a sense of humour! She was kidding about the igloo... I think some of you need to use all that hatred and direct it towards something more worthwhile.
