Isaiah Washington may have been fired from Grey's Anatomy, but Katherine Heigl will remain a resident at Seattle Grace.
Usmagazine.com has learned that the actress just received word from ABC inviting her back to the show next season.
Heigl's rep tells Us, "Katherine has received a formal pick up notice and is still hopeful that ABC will show her the same respect that they have shown for her co-stars."
In March, Heigl, 28, reportedly bailed out on contract negotiations after the actress found herself in a deadlock with producers over a salary dispute.
When reports of the failed talks hit the press, the network responded with a statement saying:
"Katherine is an integral part of Grey's Anatomy and its success. Fortunately, we have a long term contract to ensure she'll be with the show for several years to come."
"In recognition of her tremendous talent and value to the show, we recently approached Katherine with an offer to raise her compensation significantly above the terms of her current contract. We were surprised to see this gesture reported negatively in the press, and want to reassure fans that she will continue as Izzie Stevens."
Heigl bristled at ABC's decision to release a public statement and issued a response of her own saying that she was "embarrassed that this has become a public matter and disappointed that [ABC's production unit] Touchstone felt it necessary to divulge private employment information."
She continued: "I had hoped I would be able to deal with this issue confidentially with my bosses. I dropped out of the renegotiation simply because I wanted to treat myself with the respect I was not getting from them. No matter how unhappy I am about their decision to respond to this publicly, I continue to be passionate about and committed to this character."

I think KH deserves the pay ABC paid to Sandra Oh. She is amazing as Izzy and i dont think her role is secondary to Sandra's cristina. I love cristina and I also love KH and her beautiful face.
Although i hate this storyline with George, Kh is very believable as the crazy Izzy.

I personnally cannot stand to watch Sandra Oh--just rubs me the wrong way so don't read anything else into it. Everyone has their own preferences. But I wouldn't not watch because of that. I enjoy everyone else and the storylines. In fact, it will be interesting to see how her character deals with her finance gone....
ABC writers have turned into the BEST lately! Grey's, Betty, Traveler, etc.
Like many actors, she needs to drop the whole "I should get paid what they do" routine.
Her character is simply not as important as the other two major female parts. The Meredeth character is the series lead and S. Oh brings credibility to the series with her Hollywood resume. Thus, they both rightly get bigger paychecks.
Some of the actors on this show were marginally famous before the show began. Now, they are becoming a bit bratty. Washington did not deserve to be fired for his temper or his horrible comments. He apologized, went to counseling, visited GLAAD, made a PSA about the issue and humbled himself in every possible way. He should have been FORGIVEN, instead he was FIRED. Katherine Heigl is a capable actress but I feel she views herself as a bit too important. The success of this show has gone to her head, it seems. Sandra Oh is an actor on the show with a real resume and we don't hear anything about her ridiculous demands. If anything, she should not be in the shadow of Ellen Pompeo who has not accomplished nearly as much. Clearly, Sandra Oh is a professional. Katherine Heigl should take a cue...
I love KH. she is a facsinating actress and should be paid much more, like Sandra Oh and EP.
She is so much part of GREY's Anatomy...the show would have lost interest for me if she wasn't there.
Esp now with this yukky story line of her and george, but as long as she shows her beautiful face and a hope she gets back with Alex will keep me going back.

Glad she'll be back if only to see Callie knock her on her rear. I miss the Izzy from the first season, not the whiny always in love need a man overly dramatic me me me chick from the past two. And without Addison I'm going to need more Callie and Baily.
She's a great actress...on Grey's and in Knocked Up...I'll enjoy watching her for another season! On the other issues...anonymous 7:42...I totally agree with you.
The blog topic is Katherine Heigl re-upping with Gray's and not a dog-pile for you homophobes or boo-hoo-hoo because Isaiah got busted.
The Girl's got it ALL goin on: a block-buster summer movie, plum fourth season role back, and a December wedding in the works. ABC better be fairly compensating her!
And just why is it when guys stand firm and ask for what their worth it's manly, but when a woman does the same thing she's an hysterical b _ _ _ _? Discrimination is reprehensible regardless if it's toward women, blacks, gays, OR Germans.

I'm glad she's staying w/ the show but I think she got a little worked up defending TR. Only you (in this case TR) can decide to let comments like that offend you or not. I think either ignoring it or keeping it private would have been a better option. It's too bad Isaiah Washington got cut from the show...even though I don't agree w/ what he said (I wouldn't have said anything like that) but I did like his character. And there certainly are a lot worse people out there in the world to hate more than Isaiah Washington.
Paris Hilton,Mel Gibson etc. have gotten away with a lot more...Katherine Heigel is a racist German cow and TR needs to man-up instead of having some lame tv actress defending him.
Katherine is so amazing as Izzie. She really stands her ground...both as her character and self. Rock on baby !!

Would have been nice if Isaiah Washington could have returned as well.
Oh well, not really excited about season four anymore, so good for Katherine Heigl coming back...won't be around to see her and George make moon eyes at each other.
I wish she would go away - but it seems, the entire show may not make another year if they don't come up with some better story lines.
