Someone has finally asked Joel Madden about girlfriend Nicole Richie's pregnancy. Unfortunately, that doesn't mean the Good Charlotte frontman felt like answering.
On their way to playing a mall in Albany, the band stopped at Pittston, PA radio station WKRZ and talked to afternoon host, Kelly K.
The DJ began to broach the topic of Joel's impending fatherhood, leading with, "I have to ask..."
But before she could finish, Joel replied, "You don't have to ask, you want to ask. I won't answer." He later continued, "I don't speak about home at work," before twin brother Benji completed the sentence, adding, "And I don't speak about work at home."
Joel squashed the line of questioning entirely with, "It's my rule. It kills people, I guess, but yeah, I don't talk about it."

i am the biggest fan of good charlotte and nicole is just not right for joel.he gives her anything she wants and is still not greatful. have you seen her on simple life she cant even handle someone elses kids for a day and highly doub she could handle her own 24/7. joel should just stay single and focous on his band not nicole. by the way joel is not emo just punk!
I am happy for Joel and Nicole, but in your article you said Joel's father was a GROCERY CLERK.....Well, he is NOT and never was. He is a retired Meatcutter of 35 years. I think the boys need to start and shed a little better light on their father. Get over the past.
He may have seemed a little rude...but you can't blame the guy! However, I also feel that when you become a celebrity you have less privacy and I don't feel bad for you b/c you did ask for it! But I do wish them all the luck!
wow DDUB, you actually tried to debate something other than the fact that you are useless to society, big dummy

Pretty much you're wrong, they are in the buisness because that is what they want to do. In the past the paparazzi sh!t hasn't been as bad as it is today, I know dang well that Good Charlotte has been around for awhile and I know dang well that Joel Madden hasn't been publicly known as much as he is today. He didn't get into the buisness to share his life, he got in it to sing and perform and do what he is best at. Sure, a couple panty throws are fun but he should have every right in this world to hide his private life.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
No, you are wrong. If anyone gets into show business, it's b/c they WANT to be famous. If he really wanted to just be known for his music and not for who he's dating, then he could've continued to work in dive bars. No one forced him to sign a major record company deal. Same with actors. They KNOW what comes with the fame and they have no right to b!tch about it. If actors want to be known for their "craft", then they should work Broadway or do Shakespeare.
And btw, it IS possible to be famous and not be a paparazzi bleep. Jodi Foster comes to mind...
I'm sick of these celebs boo hoo-ing about their fame. Move to Iowa then! I don't see them complaining when they get thousands in free swag and into clubs...
Even though I think he is a perv I don't think he was rude. I mean he explained it pretty well. He wants work and home seperated. Besides that 1st real view of the baby is coming up in a few weeks (if her time table reports are right) and with all these experts ringing in on how bad off the baby "could be" maybe he feels like he will jinx it or something. Besides I am tired of the cat and mouse game they are playing anyhow. They haven't even said she was in fact preggers. I am losing interest in the fast.
Course we all know her big announcement will come at the openiing day of her trial... if there is anything to announce this is Hollywood.
Anyone who decided to pursue a career in which success often equals celebrity after Princess Diana died KNEW what they were getting into. So many celebs spoke out about the intrusion and the tactics that the paparazzi use that to plead ignorance now would be ridiculous.
That said, they can not answer whatever they choose. He could have been more polite about it, reading it it doesn't sound like it came out well. Oftentimes the reporter doesn't have a choice about not asking personal questions. They more likely than not answer to another person who is watching ratings.
Hey, I DID have to ask the question because I would suck if I didn't. But I respect the guy and his privacy. If he is having a kid, then keeping the kid out of the spotlight is a good policy. I just hope he can! And I hope Nicole can, as well. Remember, we only know Nicole from her image in the tabloids and that stupid reality show. I hope fame hasn't screwed her up beyond redemption, as it seems. -KK
HE WAS RUDE!! THIS WILL BE THE SAME PERSON WHO WILL DO SOMETHING CRAZY IN PUBLIC AND CONTRIDICT HIMSELF ABOUT PRIVACY. TIME WILL TELL IF HE'S ABOUT TO BE A DADDY OR NOT NICOLE IS THIN AS A NAIL.
This stuff cracks me up. We could probably find about 100 interviews with this guy talking about his personal life. Suddenly it's his rule not to? Nobody cares what he says but why can't people just say that they don't feel like talking about it? The situation is highly publicized and he doesn't have to talk about it. But he doesn't have to make lame excuses either. In this circumstance, Nicole Richie wants this attention. She feeds on it. She chases it so I don't feel bad for her at all. The girl doesn't even have genuine fame but she hunts down the attention like a gazelle.
Good 4 him! He's promoting his music not talking about his personal life. When Nicole and Joel want to share the big news they will. :)
That's kind of a rude response. He should have just started with "I don't speak about home at work". I mean the reporter is asking what they are suppossed to ask. So actually, they did *have* to ask. There's no reason to bring anyone else down.

I agree with Stacie, GOOD FOR HIM!
Ps: if your going to comment back and say something stupid, save us the time and go infront of a mirror and say it, k? : )
Stacie, you here?... still?
7:25 PM Ashley Says:
No I didn't. You have YOUR point of view and I have mine. It's not a contest you know. Just a forum for stating your opinion and I happen to differ from yours. Nothing you said OWNED me anyways really. Just sayin'.
Joel is a sleeze ball. Okay...here is this 17 year old girl, (Hilary Duff) messing around with what, a 27, 28 year old man? Why was that okay? People acted like nothing was wrong with that, AT ALL. I have no respect for that guy. Not only is he a lousy musician, he is gross and sad.
In my opinion the press can ask whatever they want but the celebrity should decide wether they answer or not. They can simply say that they will not comment about their personal life. If Nicole is pregnant that is nothing to be embarrassed about, they are both singles and can do whatever they want with their lives as long as they are not hurting others.
He is a moron for leaving the other girl for nicole... nicole is easy......
I think Joel Madden is the best thing that ever happened to Nicole. (Hopefully, she won't mess it up!) That being said, I agree that you can't pick and choose the parts of celebrity-hood that you do and don't like. Once you choose to be in the public eye, your entire life is an open book...like it or not. People watch your TV shows, buy your records, etc., so they feel they have a "right" to know about you. The questions and intrusions can go overboard, but there's an easy alternative. Get a nice 9-to-5 like the average schlub and you'll be left alone!!
But yeah, like Stacie says...I like Joel. I'm still on the fence about Nicole, though :)
Right you are, Samantha. There's nothing more irritating than a celebrity whining like a mule because their privacy is being invaded constantly. Everyone from Joel Madden to Gwyneth Paltrow has done this, and really, what the hell do they expect? Get over it, they chose this life. I know they get no sympathy from me. Joel's probably embarrassed actually. It was obviously an accident, and not many people would want to admit they voluntarily had sex with that.
Sorry Stacie, but you just got owned.
7:16 PM Samantha Says:
I'm sorry for offending you..it wasn't my intention, honestly. I just feel that the way he defended himself was good and I don;t like when people think they have a right to know what is going on in thier lives. Yes, we are curious and want to know....but if they don't want to share, we have to respect that. Thanks also for responding friendly....i didn't want to start any argument. I'm heading out so have a great rest of the night!
You are right. I apologize. Everyone is entitled to an opionion, and I should not have flat out said you were wrong. The way you came at me in your previous comment got me a little on the defensive. There are laws protecting crazy stalkers from hiding out in a celebs attic. But then again, people just want to know about him and Nichole being parents. He says that he doesnt talk about his personal life at work and vice-versa. But just google Joel Madden and see what pops up. He had no problem talking personal when he was with Hilary Duff. It's just because now they are both "holy crap, what did we do..." that they don't want to talk about it. I don't care what they say, no way in heck after two-three months being together did they plan to have a kid. Now they are talking marriage? Give me a break. This relationship wont last the year.
6:56 PM Samantha Says:
You have your opinion and I have mine as I clearly stated. So that being said....no I am NOT wrong. You cannot have a wrong opinion...you can just disagree. Being famous does not give anyone the right to invade privacy. I don't care if you're the President. No one has the right to invade your privacy for any reason...that's the whole reason we have laws! Go ahead and disagree, that's fine. But don't tell me I'm wrong for what I want to say.
6:56 PM Samantha Says:
i totally agree with you. especially on the stupid emo thing. i hate good charlotte.
Samantha, you're on a roll. Too funny. My thoughts exactly.
At least if they have a girl, she and Nichole could share clothes.
