Tony Romo and his Dallas Cowboys lost to the New York Giants 21-17 Sunday night.
And most of the blame fell on Romo's relationship with Jessica Simpson.
Sniped Dallas Morning News columnist Tim Cowlishaw:
"A lot of people thought Tony Romo made a mistake by taking off for Mexico with Jessica Simpson on the club's off weekend. He had a chance to prove them wrong by delivering a typical Pro Bowl Romo performance Sunday.
"It didn't happen."
The Associated Press also wrote that his loss certainly won't help him "quiet everyone who accused him of mixed-up priorities for joining girlfriend Jessica joining Simpson on the beach in Mexico last weekend."
Near a video on "The Jessica Simpson Factor," the Dallas Morning News is running a poll on their site asking, "What do you think caused the Dallas
Cowboys to lose Sunday's playoff game?" Simpson is a popular answer.
Romo himself admitted the loss "hurts. It's tough right now."
"I'll take the blame and I'll take the criticism here," he said, trying to deflect attention on Simpson. "That's why we're put in these positions."
But teammate Terrell Owen said the loss " is not about Tony. You guys can point the finger at him. You can talk about the vacation. And if you do that, it's really unfair ... we lost as a team."
At Dallas' Hotel ZaZa, Simpson was overheard saying she was reconnecting with Dallas, "but that's what happens when your boyfriend lives here," according to the Dallas Morning News.
Simpson was not at the game on Sunday; the last time she showed up he played the worst game of his career.

Tony Romo is a grown man (supposedly). If he's turning in poor performances at work, it's his own fault. If he wants to improve his performance, he knows what he has to do.
Jessica's career, personality and priorities have nothing to do with it - this is ROMO's job and ROMO knows what he has to do in order to get his job done. If I have a presentation at work and the girls want to go out the night before, it's up to me to decide if I'm going to risk doing poorly at work the next day by going out, or if I'm going to tell them I can't go, stay home and prepare for the job the next day.
Once he quits blaming everyone else (especially Jessica Simpson) for his own poor performance and shoddy decision-making, he'll be much better off.
Dallas was losing long before Simpson came along.

You people trying to make excuses for Tony and Jessica are either die-hard supermarket magazine readers OR you are just SO in love with Tony that you will excuse ANYTHING he does.
Don't use the simple-minded excuse that other players partied TOO, so it's a team mistake. This is about PERSONAL responsibility and accountability. Tony SHOULD have stayed in Dallas and SHOULD have studied more tapes and SHOULD have even yelled at teammates for taking the bye week off and partying.
What if he went to Mexico and got SICK or fell down and INJURED himself while partying? Would you STILL be saying "I think the trip was romantic because they look cute together." NO, you'd be saying "Why the heck did you take that trip?!?"
Besides are you SERIOUSLY telling me the trip couldn't WAIT a week till AFTER the playoff game and the larger gap to the Super Bowl? What, the urgency to run off with Simpson was MORE important then prepping for one of the MOST important games of your life? Tony fouled up and no excuse-making will hide that fact.

Come on people get over it. The Cowboys lost because of the penalties and other things that they did not do in the game not because Tony took a vacation. I believe Tony was fully focused. You are forgetting that he was not the only Dallas Cowboy on that vacation, Witten also was there with his wife. The Cowboys lost as a team. Football is a team effort and the loss falls on all of the players shoulders including the coaching staff. Go Cowboys! You will get it done next year, I have faith.

What's the point of staying home and study games if your other team-mates played like crap? Where were they when Romo needed them the most for protection from the Giants players?
Enough with this nonsense already. Romo is NOT at fault for this loss. Though he still wanted to take the blame cos he's the leader. A very responsible one. My huge respect for him!
He may be a young Quarterback but he gonna have a very bright future ahead of him. Believe it or not, he will be the one to get that SuperBowl ring for Dallas one day. Mark my words!

This relationship or whatever you may call it will be over in a month or less, Jess and family are nothing more than pub hounds. Jessica has no idea how to have/sustain any kind of a long term relationship and her family will never stay away long enough for that to happen. Tony on the other hand comes from a very simple traditional family and he will come to his senses and realize that Jessica will never be any kind of wife, partner. Can you imagine Jessica ever cooking a meal, how about just making a sandwich (Tuna) Chicken of the Sea!!!! This whole thing is very similar to Troy Aikman dating Lori Morgan only to marry a secretary that worked in the Dallas Cowboys office.

This topic doesn't make sense at all. If Tony had stayed home that weekend, do you think it will guarantee the OTHER PLAYERS not to drop the balls, avoid penalties and make other mistakes? NO!
And from what I have seen from that game, Tony played pretty well actually, so the Mexico trip shouldn't be an issue. T.O. was right, they lost as a team.
This is all media hype because Jessica is a famous celebrity. If she is a regular person, no one would have give a damn on Tony's vacation!
