Janet Jackson was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles “late last night with a shortness of breath,” a source tells Usmagazine.com.
But her rep tells Us this morning, “Janet is fine. She’s just battling this flu like everyone else.”
(Meanwhile, longtime beau Jermaine Dupri partied with friends at New York's Touch club for Snoop Dogg's "Egotrippin'" album release.)
Jackson’s latest album Discipline is No. 1 on Billboard’s Top 200.
Jackson, 41, who plans to tour later this year, also is co-writing a dieting book, expected to hit shelves by the end of the year.
"It takes you through those moments in my life up 'til now and what worked for me,” she recently told Billboard.com.
“And hopefully within that, if it doesn't work for them, maybe they'll find something that does work for them and a nice place for them to be content with who they are."

The flu is SERIOUS this year, I am a nurse and on the rare day off it is good to be home and away from that hospital.
To all the negative comments, we have had people die from this flu this year, it is that bad, don't make sick comments about her health, to suffer from the flu is one thing to be put is the hospital with it is a SERIOUS thing.

Wow, some of the folks commenting on here are really mean. Let's hope that none of you ever gets seriously ill, because karma is a biyatch. I, for one, wish Janet a super-speedy recovery. And, incidentally, you CAN be hospitalized for complications from the flu - uncontrolled fever, dehydration, shortness of breath (wheezing), and the list of symptoms goes on and on. It probably doesn't help that Janet has been promoting her new album on both coasts, working non-stop, and meeting a bunch of fans (with all of their germs) over the last few weeks. No doubt she'll be OK once she gets some much needed R&R. Then she'll be back again to silence the jealous haters. Get well soon, Miss Jackson.

Well The flu has been really bad this year~ and She is human like the rest of us.
My daughter was hospitalized for the flu because over the counter meds didn't help the symptoms.
Hope she is better soon, It's cool to see her making music again.. I always liked her!!

Well I hope she gets better(which I am sure she will)She always bounces back and knows when to take her self out of the public eye, because people love to talk and critize her..But hey she is da bomb so what does she expect...All the haters have a job and that is to keep on hating while she is out doing her thing...She probably hasn't been that sick in a long time and she is planning a tour so I think it makes sense that she gets checked out for everything.. The Jackson's are legends so who knows she may help out someone with her book...Younger and older people seem to listen and have respect for her..So needless to say I purchase the book reguardless................ Keep on hating HATERS!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL

Hospitalized with the flu ? HUH ? Since when ? Last I checked most people just chill out in bed, take meds, crap and puke their guts out until they are better. So something about this STINKS TO HIGH HEAVEN. I don't believe she was there for the flu.. because many people get the flu and they don't report to a hospital with "shortness of breath".. give me a break. She probably ate to much and got heart burn and as old as she is (given she doesn't look old) figured she was having a serious problem and went to the hospital. She many not even have wanted to go but her "people" probably convinced her to get checked out.
As far as her diet book...Well it may give some people a few tips but I don't see the benefit. And not because she's yo-yo'ed in her weight. But because I don't see what the hell she going to say that no other says: Cut back on eating certain things and get moving. DUH!

why would anyone in their right mind take diet advise from someone whose weight has yo-yo'd for basically her entire life.. I would rather take advise from someone who has been fit and healthy on a consitent basis, such as Jessica Biel or Halle Barry.. i'm sure Janet's weight will go up as soon as she's down promoting her album and down w/ her concert.
