Once again Angelina tries on an accent and fails. While I have appreciated many films that Angie has been in, this was not one of them. While the story deserved to be told, it should have had a different lead actress. I'm sorry to say this, but I waited for this to come to dvd first and it was a disppointment. Angelina should really never do a role that requires her to use an accent different than her own. I have no idea what she was supposed to sound like, but it wasn't an accent that comes from any known language. It was very similar to the accent she tried in Alexander. This movie is a pass.

· Angelina Jolie's latest, A Mighty Heart, continues to draw controversy, or as the marketing execs call it, "free press."
· Only Donald Trump could anger people by planting trees.
· Amy Winehouse reinforces cultural stereotypes.
· Brits like their Zellweger Bridget Jones-sized.
· Not to count chickens, but Lindsay Lohan looks healthy.
· We want John Krasinski in our Office. Please?

OMG I've never seen such a phony acting ever. Serious movie became laughable due to terrrible acting. This should have been a TV movie to spare people of their $9.
I find it extremely difficult to read, or take any of these comments seriously. I don't believe I read one review that the writer used anything close to proper English, spelling, grammar and sentence structure correctly. They criticize a movie that they obviously do not understand. It is FRIGHTENING that so many people in this country (or at least on this web site) are unable to utilize the English language correctly. And why is everyone so angry? I don't understand. EDUCATION!!!!!!
WHAT A MIGHTY SHAME, THIS MOVIE SUCK SO STOP TRYING TO MAKE IT SOUND LIKE IT WAS ALL THAT. I FELL SORRY FOR PEOPLE WHO HAVE SEEN IT, IT WAS A WASTE OF MONEY, ANGIE REALLY SUCK IN THIS MOVIE, WELL ACTULLY SHE ISN'T EVEN A MOVIE STAR ALL HER MOVIES SUCK. JUST BECAUSE OF HE LOOKS PEOPLE ARE WOOING HER BUT HER ACTING SUCKS.....NOT ONE OF HER MOIVES AR GOOD. ON THE OTHER HAND JENNIFER IS WHAT YOU MAY CALL AN ACTRESS....JOLIE IS A SLUT.
i think angelina is beautiful, but she definitely has issues, and in the end seems to be a person who tries too hard to put on the outward show of being a good person, but who in reality is not one. her lift to a stranded photog was an obvious attempt at damage control to her recent bad press. she is almost never seen holding her own biological "blob", and she certainly had no qualms of sleeping with a married man. maybe her involvement in charity is to fill the hole in her life. she seems confused, and not genuine.it's funny so many people hate on jennifer, but she has handled herself extremely well, and keeps her mouth shut more than angelina.
Marian Pearl uses Jolie's beauty for her own "POLITICAL MOTIVES." Marian is a very political woman but looks like an ugly man. That's why the movie failed at the box office.
This movie does not reflect the true story, even how Marian Pearl acts or dealts with the situation, her accent and her looks. Jolie said Marian was never at the location during the shooting of the movie, Jolie only reacts in a way that a good actress would react.
I somehow highly doubt the academy people will vote for this film and for AJ. It's a good film but so as many other films, zodiac, le vie en rose and load more to come. I think Marine Pearl should not have chosen Jolie in the first place. She is half black (she keeps saying are we all past this?) Hello Marine many Americans have not past it. You have ignored racism in America by having chosen Jolie to play you. What a freaking hyprocrite! As for AJ, well karma works!
hER MOVIES SUCK ASSS
Did you read US online headline " A MIGHTY FLOP" hahahhaaaaaaaaaaaahahhahaaaaaaaaagggghhahahahaaaaaaaa.
If Angie is trash, so is all jen friends. AS the old saying tell me who your friends are then I will tell who you are.
Ideally, the best outcome is critical acclaim AND box office success. But if I had to choose between the two, I'd prefer to be a critically acclaimed film that performed poorly at the box office than a blockbuster that was panned by the critics.
jello 11:08 - Nobody was expecting a billion dollar return for A Mighty Heart. That's a little ridiculous. Aniston's films for the most part have done okay financially. I don't think anyone is debating that. The issue is the talent factor. I just don't think Aniston's that great an actress. She's good in comedies, but that's about it. Personally, I'd rather be in a critically acclaimed film like A Mighty Heart or Babel that doesn't perform strongly at the box office, than in a comedy like Rumor Has it that brings in money but terrible reviews. Actors measure themselves by their roles, their talents and abilities, not by how much the film makes - that money factor is the studio's concern, not the actors.
A mighty flop. It's called karma. Need to say More?
Bangeloonies - STOP IT!!!
How come if JEN has a movie that doesn't do so well, you say it's because she is a failure and her career sucks (ahem, we should all be so lucky) - but your HERO, who you SWORE would have a BILLION DOLLAR OPENING - TOTALLY FLOPPED! And now your excuse is "oh well it was never supposed to be a big budget film, yada yada yada..."
We are so sick of YOU LOONIES and the world is sick of YOUR HERO. DEAL WITH IT. She's an overexposed, fraudulent LOSER.
Can someone please tell me why this movie was released in June? This is SO not a summer popcorn movie. More of a fall/winter movie. This is the season for blockbuster comedies and action films. What gives Paramount Vantage? I think you need to hire a new marketing strategist.
I was moved by the film as well. It's a really good piece of ensemble acting.
Dan Futterman, the actor who plays Daniel Pearl, is such a cutie. He's an eerily close match for Daniel. He could be his twin. If I was Mariane, I would have lost it when I met him.
Yeah! Another indie girl (or boy) at 9:33.
You'll love La Vie En Rose as well as Paris Je T'Aime. Very sweet films. I'm looking forward to Sicko as well. It's playing here, but only one showing a day on the weekends. I'm waiting for it to go into a wider release.
A mighty heart is a very good film... i was moved...

I LOVED the Captain in the story too! He was so determined to find the truth. He was the true hero of the story. I was thrilled to learn at the end of the story that he received an international award for peace because of his unrelenting search to find Pearl's kidnappers and killers. What a beautful human being. Pakistan should be proud.
9:38 - It's probably because of the outsider perspective you get from a British filmmaker. They tend to be more straightforward and give a more accurate portrayal of real life events. The same was true for United 93, also directed by a Brit. I think if Americans directed these films, they would have significantly altered the story for dramatic purposes and over-sentimentalized the film for box office revenue. Leave it to the Brits who understand how to strike the right tone. They understand how to be understated yet powerful and moving at the same time.
I was really impressed with the film. This could have easily become a Jolie vanity project, but she was actually more of an ensemble. Her role in the movie really didn't dominate the story. That was a very smart move by the Michael Winterbottom. Very well done.
Agreed. I was moved by A Mighty Heart. Next on my list is Sicko, La Vie En Rose and Paris Je T'Aime.

Oh your precious Angelina was exposed for the fraud she is so you attack Jennifer? Its not her fault no one likes that stupid piece of trash who pronmoted herself instead of the movie. A shame Marianne peral signed on for one actress but got another when Jen and Brad separated. Now if she only takes that year off liked she promised. Since this movie flopped she might have to wheter she likes it or not....
Loved the movie! Jolie was great as was Asra the Indian woman who owned the house they lived in while in Pakistan and the Captain, the Pakistani who led the investigation team. Great story!
Great movie. Will definitely receive award nominations for adapted screenplay, lead actress and director. All three were brilliant. So glad I took the time this weekend to see it.
I just watched the trailer to Michael Moore's next movie, "Sicko." The humor is typical Moore's and I laughed at the outlandish things that he does. It was the most funniest material yet. I loved it and will definately make this my summer movie.
I woke up in the morning and the first news I hear is tha A mighty heart flopped, what a good morning!
I read so many positive reviews on this blog and elsewhere that I was compelled to see the Mighty FLOP. I was disappointed in the movie. The substance was not there and Jolie's accent was a career embarrassment. I looked at the ranking this morning and considering Angelina Jolie stars in the film the movie ranks in 10th place and grossing just over 4 million dollars in ticket sales. This could not be Oscar material for Jolie. It's more like a career bust.
Pearl film called ‘a mighty shame’
.....
Nomani accuses the moviemakers and their “PR machine” of having been “intent on two very different and much shallower goals: creating a mega-star vehicle for Angelina Jolie, who plays Mariane, and promoting the glib and cliched idea that both Danny and Mariane were ‘ordinary heroes’.” She writes, “But there weren’t any real heroes in the story of Danny’s tragedy. Danny would have said he was just doing his job. When he went off that day in Karachi, he didn’t give any impression that he thought what he was doing was especially dangerous. He just had a story he wanted to pursue and an interview he thought would help him. After he vanished, I don’t think any of us, not even Mariane, did anything particularly courageous, either. We each had a duty to try to find him — either as professionals or because of the bonds of friendship or family.””.....
