Awareness is a much more difficult issue to achieve and having an actress portraying it as something you do between tea and coffee in charitable events, between photoshoots, between living with Brad Pitt, and filming IS NOT REAL!!

Well I care if this is for P.R. reasons because she steals the place from other people who WANT and CAN speak for these issues. But they are not as pretty or as famous as Jolie.
And even if more people know now it wont feed a child in Africa or educate a child in US.

It is interesting that the only argument Jolie fans have for people not buying her polished and P.R. created "image" is JEALOUSY.

Jolie gets paid MILLION OF DOLLARS for the work of a couple of months in a movie set, and for the work of a few days of photo shoots for a magazine. So if she donates 1 MILLION NOW AND THEN, it is like you and I give 10 dollars. So enough with the hype!!! When all these self promoting actors say that it is unfair to get paid these astronomical salaries while people in the US and all over the world work 15 or more hours a day, 7 days a week and cant make ends meet, WHEN all these actors fight for better salaries in the US, fund with their salaries the educational and health care system of the US or the world's then I will bow to the Holy Jolie.

At least Oprah is not taking children out of Africa. She is contributing to a better future for them and their children and their country, by donating her money, educating the children there, so they can SAVE THEMSELVES and in the future WILL NOT NEED US WESTERNERS WITH OUR HOLLY CHARITIES to save them.

Perhaps Jolie could spend some time to "educate" the "uneducated" people of US (as she thinks) regarding how rich actually African countries are in natural resources and how the West is STEALING FROM THEM!!! And probably the same corporationS that steal FROM AFRICA are the same who fund the films and activities of Ms. Jolie so she can be a millionaire AND A PHILANTHROPIST. See the irony or the unjustice?

She flies in and out of those poor countries, with private jets, staff who organise the trips, translators, OH yes and photographers!! She is not exactly staying with the people in need, living their life, taking care of them in hospitals, eating the food they eat, having bombs flying over her head. All she does is she writes cheques like so many other celebrities do but she takes it one step further and MAKES SURE she gets acknowledged for what she does.

Personally I look up to the people who go there and help, even though their monthly salary is like any other's average person. I dont care if they are pretty or ugly, if they are married to Brad Pitt or not, if they divorced Jennifer Aniston or not, I care that they put their lives in danger, and actually SAVE LIVES in conditions that only can be named as HELL. There are doctors working with the Doctors Without Borders/Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF)that choose to go to these areas while they could make million of dollars treating HOLLYWOOD STARS! Yes I do feel inferior! I feel inferior to THEM!!!

Actually, Madonna has donated $3M to support SIX ORPHANAGES in Malawi, Africa.

Oprah has been fostering ten individual African children for TEN YEARS now, in addition to building an Academy for Girl's in South Africa which houses and educates 600 young girls, with more schools being built, as well as donated many millions of dollars for African relief as well.

In 2005, Oprah donated $50 Million Dollars to charity.

Angelina Jolie adopted three overseas orphans she took "home" (which changes monthly) and whom she uses for self promotion endlessly. She is actually rarely with those children. They are being taken care of by four nannies, and the Warner Brothers Day Care Center...and Brad Pitt.

I absolutely agree. I thought the same thing. How coudl she snatch one kid who had a bed, and clothes and a roof over their heads and igore the ones with nothing and no place to go? God that one kid was 12 and taking care of his brothers and sisters, no bed, no parents,no food and her kids are wearing designer clothes and have nannies, body guards,etc.

if I had a choice between adopting 1 or leaving them all there and building an orphanage and supporting it and taking care of hundreds, I would do that.

After seeing this last weeks show, I stood and cried as I saw these kids living alone with no parents, no food, no one to care for them,etc. ( YES I DID DONATE) but my questions to AJ are why would she go in and take a kid out of a orphanage? They were at least safe, had a bed, food,etc. Why didn't she take a child living alone and sleeping on the ground with no food no parents,etc.

Why not take the millions she got from selling her kids pictures and build those kids an orphange? My God, how could a person adopt one and then whisk them off on a private jet and dress them in $300 T shirts when she has the $$ would build them a home and let them sleep in a bed.

WHY does she not set up a committee that helps people adopt these kids. Tell how much it costs, what it takes, get all the ridiculous fees cut to an affordable rate, get commerical airlines to donate the transportation?

She flutters off to Washington for what? For publicity for her movie. It is always about her.

I only wish I had the $$ and the power of the media that this woman commands and I would truely help, not just do what I can to get my face on the cover of mags again.
