Patrick Dempsey placed sixth in the Grand-Am Koni Challenge GS sports car race on Sunday, hitting speeds as fast as 170 miles an hour.

According to the Associated Press, the 41-year-old Grey's Anatomy star and his co-driver competed against 38 other cars.

The car racing aficionado revealed that he gets a bigger rush behind the wheel than on the Grey’s set.

"I really enjoy racing much more than I enjoy doing the show," Dempsey said. "I mean I enjoy the show, but it's a different thing because it's like a long distance race."

No word on whether Dempsey would actually leave the show for the race track, although the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation would certainly hate for the actor to switch teams (yuk yuk!)

On Saturday, GLAAD awarded Grey's Anatomy outstanding individual episode for the show titled "Where the Boys Are.”

The award recognized the show’s sympathetic depiction of Daniel, a man who wanted sexual reassignment surgery even at the risk of losing his wife of 10 years – a story about love conquering all.

Of course, if you’re looking for a more layered analysis, there’s also Alex and George’s hand combat scene, which somehow led to Joe’s boyfriend, Walter, falling on a rock.

At first glance, this may seem like your run of the mill b-tchslap-fight-in-the-woods sequence. But upon closer inspection, it’s clearly an allegory for the Isaiah Washington/Patrick Dempsey/T.R. Knight scandal from last October, in which a gay male took the fall for the immature brawling of two frenemies.
