He attended lavish parties, dated Paris Hilton and counted Brad Pitt and Justin Timberlake as fans of his Girls Gone Wild franchise.
But times have changed for Joe Francis — the 34-year-old, self-made multimillionaire.
Since May, he's been cooped up in a 12x7 cell at Reno's Washoe County Jail for tax evasion charges.
"I can’t look out the window," he tells Extra in an interview, airing Monday. "The only thing I can see is the 7-11 across the street, that’s too depressing for me. I try not the think about anything on the outside.”
Francis could pay his $1.5 million bond as he awaits a federal trial slated for next year.
But then he would face extradition to Florida, where he was jailed for a month in April for contempt of court in a civil suit brought by seven women who alleged they were underage when he shot them for his raunchy videos. (The federal charges had superceded the civil ones.)
A judge refuses to grant him bail.
“I’m being persecuted by people in Florida, corrupt city officials, who’re pissed off at me for asserting my First Amendment right against them,” he told Extra.
Francis compared himself to Hustler's Larry Flynt, adding, “I’m obviously the target because I’m the figurehead of the company ... I’m being persecuted for my stance on the First Amendment.”

Complete crap. Ok maybe Joe isn't the smartest guy in the world but no I don't think he should be in jail. Stupid young girls know before anybody asks them to do anything what the show is about and then they go ahead and do it anyways then sue the company. If nudie pictures ruin a career, something else was wrong, or there was discrimination on the part of the employer, or there was a morality issue. In the case of morals clauses, a person would or should know those before accepting the job and therefore should not surprised if they lost a job do to previous behavior. Not to say I agree with the moral argument, but it is what it is.
Common sense would tell you that if you flash body parts in public people will see. Common sense will tell you that in public there may be cameras. If your common sense goes out the window when you drink and you consent to something you would otherwise not, the simple solution would be to not drink. A person is responsible for their actions even when drunk, or we would allow drunk drivers passes. A woman who drank does not lose her power to say no, or many date rapes would not be prosecuted.
If it does happen to be that his records of consent are incomplete, he is a fool or he is hiding something. I do not think he is a fool.

How many of YOU never did anything stupid or drank too much when you were young? Just because someone gets themselves into a vulnerable position does not mean anyone has the right to exploit them. What he does is akin to rape.
Do not compare him to Hugh Hefner, the women in Playboy make the conscious decision to go and pose for the magazine, they are old enough and have much time to make the decision, they are also paid well and are models who do that for a living. Many of these young girls are going to end up being lawyers/ teachers/business women etc and these videos could come back to haunt them, ruining their careers.

Oddly enough, I think it's insulting to Larry Flynt for Joe Francis to compare himself. At least Flynt hired sober, willing participants to appear in his magazines. It's a scary world out there for young women who get a little tipsy and use poor judgement. I'm not saying the women shouldn't take some responsibility, but he definitely takes advantage of women who wouldn't agree to do this when sober.

These girls are friggin drunk little skanks who seem to really enjoy what they are doing and the fact it is video taped... now don't get me wrong if it were my daughter in one of these movies then heaven help her but for real the girls put it out there and he just capitalized on it. I can't say I agree... but this whole time all the charges against him seem to be like he said politics and such cause for almost every charge they file against him he has been able to clear his name. ok, well, I wonder, I'm not a joe francis fan, but I do wonder why it is that the girls who claim to be underage at the time, why is it their PARENTS weren't around? why did their PARENTS allow them to go to a place where there would be drinking and partying and wild stuff going on? the PARENTS are ultimately resonsible for this IF they truly were underage. furthermore, the 'underage' girls should have known better than to allow themselves to be filmed in compromising positions. they did know better, and as I said, ultimately, they should be investigating the PARENTS for negligent behavior, for allowing their children to go where they KNEW there would be alcohol, drugs, sex and more. they are the first ones to blame. period.
