KFC’s Colonel Cat Climber Is the Strangest Thing You’ll See Today, But It’s for a Good Cause

KFC and cats don’t exactly go together as well as, say, fried chicken and mashed potatoes, but that hasn’t stopped the fast food establishment from doing what they can to encourage pet adoptions.

On Tuesday, July 17, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. ET, KFC is partnering up with entertainment website Super Deluxe to host a livestream event featuring a Colonel-shaped cat climber as the ultimate engaging experience for your (adoptable) new feline friend.

“Everyone knows the internet loves cats, so we thought ‘let’s do what the Colonel would and give the people what they want’” Steve Kelly, director of media and digital at KFC US tells Us Weekly in a statement. “We have a lot of fun finding unexpected ways for the Colonel to interact with our audience.”

The livestream, which is currently airing on Super Deluxe’s Facebook page, shows an array of adorable and adoptable kittens playing with the unique cat climber. Said apparatus comes complete with a spinning cane, rotating head, pinwheel bowtie and a fried chicken-shaped toy, because what cat wouldn’t love that?

As one commenter put it: “Whoever made this functional Colonel Sanders cat entertainer needs some credit. This is awesome!”

And as the livestream audience grows, the various features of the cat climber will come to life for the kitties to enjoy. What’s more? Once the furry felines are done playing with the seven-foot-tall Colonel toy, they will all be available for adoption via Heaven on Earth Society of Animals in Los Angeles, so head on over and watch right meow!
