Sing it, Sia! Sia joined James Corden for a round of Carpool Karaoke, which aired on The Late Late Show on Tuesday, February 16 — and it was glorious.
The Australian singer-songwriter, 40, belted out some of her greatest hits, including “Chandelier,” “Diamonds” and “Elastic Heart.” For the fun ride around town, the Grammy winner covered her face with her black and white wig.
“I don’t wear this unless there’s cameras around. I only wear this to kind of maintain some privacy,” Sia explained to Corden of her talked-about penchant of concealing her face for public appearances. “I was a singer already for like 10 or 11 years to mediocre success and I was an alcoholic and a drug addict. I sobered up and decided that I didn’t want to be an artist anymore because I was starting to get a little bit famous and it was destabilizing in some ways. So I thought, What didn’t exist in pop music at the moment? And it was mystery. You know, there’s pictures of everyone on Instagram at the dentist.”
Fascinated by Sia’s story, Corden then tried on a matching disguise to relate. His wig, however, included blunt bangs so he could continue driving. The British star then blasted Sia’s song “Alive” and showed off his killer moves.
He quipped: “You can’t even see the level of dance I’m doing.”
