Bindi Irwin, the 8-year-old daughter of late "Crocodile Hunter" Steve Irwin, has gone showbiz.

According to Reuters, Bindi, who will star in the 26-part Bindi, the Jungle Girl series on Discovery Kids network this year, is launching her entertainment career this week with a series of high-profile television appearances and speeches across the United States.

She will address the National Press Club in Washington, and then drop by The Ellen DeGeneres Show and the Late Show With David Letterman. Her mother, Terri Irwin, 42, will also join Bindi and her Crocmen backup dancers on stage with The Wiggles for concerts in L.A. and New York.

"She'll be welcomed with open arms and rightly so. She's a very special child," Discovery senior vice president Annie Howell told Australian reporters on Monday.

Steve Irwin, 44, died on September 4th when a stingray barb pierced his chest while he was filming a documentary off Australia's northeast coast. Bindi's U.S. tour coincides with the airing of Ocean's Deadliest, the same documentary her Australian naturalist father was working on when he was killed.
