After several weeks of Nicole Richie hiding her stomach from photographers, the is-she-or-isn’t-she-rumors can be put to rest: Us has confirmed via multiple sources that Richie is more than 12 weeks pregnant with her and boyfriend Joel Madden’s first child.
“She is extremely excited right now,” a source close to the star tells Us.
Richie, 25, shared the good news with her mom Brenda, and close friends like Mischa Barton, in early May, adds the Richie pal, after a pregnancy test came up positive.
And the pregnancy isn’t the only cause for celebration.
A source says Madden, 28, along with a few friends and his twin brother Benji, recently went shopping for an engagement ring.
And the twins’ older brother Josh Madden tells Us, “Nicole is awesome. I would love for them to get married!”
Both families are thrilled about the couple’s baby joy: “Everyone’s happy, everyone’s good, everyone’s getting along” a source tells Us.
But Nicole can’t hide her bump forever. The Simple Life star is due in court on July 11 to answer DUI charges stemming from her December 2006 arrest. If found guilty, she faces 90 days to one year in jail because of a previous DUI conviction in 2003.

Im 21 (my daughter is 5 months old) and I am having my second child so whats the difference? Nicole will be a fine mum, it takes time to get the hang of it. I had an eating dissorder like she did, once i became pregnant I ate correctly and my daughter is a healthy bub. Dont slam Nicole into the ground, being pregnant changes your outlook on things and she has 'grown up' and matured from being a typically party girl. Congratulations to them both.

wow some of the comments made are just nasty! Who are we to judge and you really cant believe you know someone just because you read about them. Nicole has become very skinny but then so many celebs have and it is sad it puts pressure on insecure girls. I am slim healthy and confident i wish more girls were happy with curves hips and boobs are what make us woman.If Nicole was too under weight then her periods would have stopped and she'd be unable to conceive.
She is not too young to be a mum i'm 22 and expecting if your in a loving relationship and your both happy thats all you need.I was the wild party girl of my group who doesn't get drunk and do silly things at our age? I think it is too bad that people are so judgemental. If Nicole is pregnant I am sure she will step up to the plate and be a wonderful mother. As for being too young to be a mother, I was 21 when I had my first child and my daughter and I have a wonderful relationship, one that I cherish, and maybe being an older mother I would not have been able to do all the things I do as a mother at my age. Age is often not a factor in whether or not we are good parents. I do not think that a 55 year old woman having a child is a responisble move either. We should not judge.. us "ordinary people" have no idea w/ the respect to the demands on these young people in hollywood, maybe they would be able to breath if we backed off.
