American Idol won’t be getting out a fourth judge's chair any time soon.
Rocker Courtney Love claimed yesterday that Idol executive producer Nigel Lythgoe called her office last week asking whether she would be interested in sitting in as a judge on the hit FOX show.
"He called,” Love told Usmagazine.com. “He was wondering if I was interested. I thought it was kind of weird but brilliant."
On Tuesday, Lythgoe didn't offer any comment, but now Lythgoe denies making the call, saying in a statement to Usmagazine.com:
"I did not call Courtney Love and am afraid someone may have misrepresented me. Courtney Love is a very talented artist, but the judges for American Idol are Paula, Randy and Simon. We have no plans to add to or replace any of them."
So who made that mysterious phone call? A source close to Love says, "It was probably a prank."
A rep for Love adds, "There's no truth to it whatsoever."

i she is doing it to get attention fantastic...i don't really watch american idol, but i would watch it if courtney love was on it. i wish it were true. i'd love to see Love replace that randy guy that calls everyone dog. courtney and paula could would be cute together.

I knew it had to be too good to true. The story we relayed to you about Courtney Love possibly joining the "American Idol" judge panel is nothing more than wishful thinking. Sigh. Apparently, Usmagazine.com had falsely reported that she'd received a phone call from the Executive Producer of the show offering her a spot. And Courtney responded via her website, according to Star:
"Court said on 30 Jan 2007 at 7:47 pm This kerfuffle is NONSENSE, i said to a friend who obviously passed igt on the wrong way that it was awierdly brilliant PRANK CALL, if it was NOT a prank call i woul dnever ever do that, ive never watche dthat show except once with my daughter i went to the final night, I couldnt even get ON that show nor would i wantt o and no offense to anyone who has been on that show and wantsto be on that show- i have no interest at this point in my life..."
I'd continue to quote the rambling, except that it's really more of the same. And with that, my dreams of a Simon, Courtney and Paula violent on-camera three-way are disappearing before my very eyes.

Courtney Love fell off her rocker many many many moons ago. Drugs, lots and lots of them, Alcohol, HER music, and lots of unprotected, drug infested, std infected sex, really do cause damage. She hasnt had any attention brought towards her like britt, brangelina, tom and katie. WE ARE ALREADY TIRED OF MINDING THEIR BUSINESS, DO WE HAVE TO MIND HERS TOO?????? Shouldnt we get paid for minding their business since other ppl give us pics to put stories with it.

Court is ok and I guess deserves a chance. But why replace Paula for pill popping and drinking with a known drug addict. At least Paula does not have a heroin past. I know we should not judge, but isn't that what they are doing with Paula!

I think Courtney should replace Randy. He is so lacking in humor and personality. The only funny thing he does is unintentional - how he keeps trying to coin phrases that never catch on. Courtney Love is brilliant and entertaining and could hold her own against Simon. And she knows EXACTLY what it takes to succeed in the music industry. She's been down that road and made fun of it too.

It was Mrs. Hyde (or was it Dr. Jekyll?). I was really looking forward to Paula and Courtney stoned out of their skulls together listening to awful singing and telling everyone how great they are. That would only improve the quality of the show.
