Celebs’ Idol Favorites!

As the American Idol finale airs this week, celebs and past Idol performers tell Us if they’re on Team Archuleta or Team Cook

David Cook just keeps getting better. Then you hear David Archuleta. He gives me chills at times.” - Entourage’s Perrey Reeves

“I’m rooting for David Cook because he’s a great performer – and he’s hot!” - Lake Bell

“On a given night anyone can win when pitted against just one other contestant, but I think this is Archuleta's title to lose. His teen to grandma fan base will pummel the phone lines with an astounding number of votes. Although Cook appeals to a lot of the same demographic, my sense is that he has more of the "industry" types backing him, who - let's face it - don't vote. [I predict] Archuleta takes it, but Cook sells more records.” - Constantine Maroulis, season 4 contestant

“I’m from Kansas City, so I like [Missouri native] David Cook. I’m not buying the Archuleta hype!” - Saturday Night Live’s Jason Sudeikis

“I've called it since the beginning of season 7: the next American Idol will be David Archuleta! Archie’s voice and quirky laugh won my heart the moment I saw him. He will benefit the most from the title. However, while Archuleta ran an Idol sprint - started out fast then lost some speed - David Cook definitely ran a well calculated marathon.” - Mandisa, season 5 contestant

“I’m rooting for the 17-year-old David [Archuleta]. I really like him!” - Tori Spelling

“In my honest opinion, I believe that it is a 50/50 split between the two Davids. David Archuleta has the ideal, All-American, teenage pop image that American Idol has kind of been lacking in the last few seasons. He would be a great winner and would fair pretty well in the industry if they did the right record on him. David Cook captures the American Idol fans who want a winner a little outside of the pop box. David C. has such a distinct image and sound that he would be an instant hit in mainstream music. Both guys are great performers and would be worthy title-holders as the winner of American Idol.” - Diana DeGarmo, season 3 runner-up

“I love David Archuleta. I can barely say his name, but he’s so cute! He’s like a puppy – I just want to scoop him up and tell him everything is going to be OK! I hope he hangs in there.” - Carson Kressley

“This is a really tough call, given how talented both of these guys are. If I had to make a choice, I would say that David Cook will win. Throughout the competition he has shown the most versatility, with ambitious song choices and incredible performances to match. His performance of "Billie Jean" is the one that I remember and enjoyed the most this season, and I believe in an industry that is constantly changing, he has the ability to stick around and make great music for years to come.” - Kevin Covais, season 5 contestant

“I really like David Cook. He takes risks and is not afraid to push the envelope, and that’s what catches my eye. That remake he did of “Billie Jean” was so fantastic. I started crying.” - Tamera Mowry

David Cook is more my style of music. He is also more experienced and edgier than Archuleta. He should do what he is doing, going the pop rock way just like Chris Daughtry. I also will be at David Cook's home viewing party corresponding for American Idol. I’m on Team Cook!” - Mikalah Gordon, season 4 contestant

"Both Davids are incredibly talented. If we're searching for the American Idol - one who's a bit more prepared for public speaking and interviews - then David Cook would be my choice. However, with that said, David Archuleta is an incredibly polished and poised performer, especially for only being 17. I appreciate both, but it's Cookie all the way." - Jim Verraros, season 1 contestant

5:00 PM accord Says:

I am a huge David Archuleta fan but gained a lot of respect the final couple of weeks for Cook for his respect for and treatment of Archie. Cook said Archie is the real deal and thinks he is funny. So he went way up in my book. I will try to support them both now but, I will honestly be a David Archuleta fan for life. He touches my heart and soul and I have never, never heard a voice as unique and amazing as his.

3:41 PM Debbie J Says:

There is one more thing I would like to say. I may be a
sap but I got choked up not only when David C won but
when he walked to where the Judges were and motioned for
the Idol contestants to follow him. He motioned for
David A to come stand by him and David A was so happy
for him, they all were. They were there with some
arms around David C and each other and all with radiant
smiles. It's not all about the winning but the caring
they all have for each other. I wish there was more like
that in the world. Thanks American Idol.
