Raven-Symone’s Dad Speaks Out About Her Controversial Comments: “She Says Some Dumb S—t”

Raven-Symone's dad, Christopher B. Pearman, is speaking out

Raven-Symone was slammed on social media after making a controversial comment on The View on Thursday, Oct. 8, and in an open letter on Facebook the following day, her father, Christopher B. Pearman, admitted that his daughter made an "inexcusable gaffe."

Explaining that he hasn't managed the former Cosby Show star for more than 10 years, Pearman wrote that his daughter "has her own opinions, right or wrong, and is responsible for her own words and actions."

Symone, 29, claimed on Thursday's show that she would discriminate against any job applicant with a "ghetto" name.

"I’m not about to hire you if your name is Watermelondrea. It’s just not going to happen," the former child star said. "I’m not going to hire you."

Her comment caused an uproar on Twitter, prompting Pearman's Facebook post. The author of Dream So Big wrote that while he doesn't agree with what the That's So Raven actress said, "She's a grown ass woman making grown ass mistakes. We have all been guilty of this."

Defending his daughter as one of the few child stars to have been successful and lasted this long with "little to no controversy," Pearman added, "Raven is a really Beautiful, Sweethearted, Human Being. I should know. Her Mother and I Love her Very much and will always support her and have her back. Even if sometimes……….she says some dumb S#%T!"
