He needed a blessing from her friends!
On July 30, with girlfriend Jennifer Aniston shooting We’re the Millers in Wilmington, North Carolina, Justin Theroux dined at Elio’s restaurant in NYC with her best gal pals Courteney Cox and Laura Dern; Cox’s daughter Coco (Aniston’s goddaughter), 8, and Dern’s kids Ellery, 10, and Jay, 7, were also on hand. Aniston’s Friends cohort Cox, 48, wore “cute hipster glasses” for the outing, says a source.
“Everyone seemed to be having fun,” the source adds of meal — with Theroux horsing around with the kids in attendance; Coco even sat on his lap!
Eleven days later, on August 10, Aniston was with Theroux in NYC for his 41st birthday. Theroux’s big surprise? He asked for her hand in marriage with a ring he helped design.
“Jen cried,” a confidante tells the new Us Weekly, out now, adding that Theroux’s proposal was “simple.”
The couple of a year and a half went out to celebrate, just the two of them, at Greenwich Village eatery Blue Hill.
“Justin Theroux had an amazing birthday Friday, receiving an extraordinary gift when his girlfriend, Jennifer Aniston, accepted his proposal of marriage,” Theroux’s rep told Us on Sunday; Aniston’s rep also confirmed the happy news to Us.
It will be the first marriage for Theroux (who ended his 14-year relationship with Heidi Bivens in early 2010) and the second for Aniston, who divorced Brad Pitt in 2005 after five years together; Pitt, 48, is now engaged to love Angelina Jolie.
