And the award for best secret keeper goes to …! Nico Tortorella tells Us Weekly the entire Younger cast knew about Hilary Duff’s second pregnancy long before the actress shared her happy news with the world.
“Oh, I’ve known for months,” Tortorella revealed to Us exclusively at the 2018 VH1 Trailblazers (airing June 28 at 9:30 p.m.) event on Thursday, June 21.
“Oh, we had to [keep it a secret]. What are you talking about? That’s Hilary Duff. That’s expensive material,” the actor, 29, joked.
Tortorella could not contain his excitement for his costar now that the word is out. “She is an incredible mom,” he said. “I spent a lot of time with Luca on set this year, and she’s been wanting to have another baby for a while.” The 30-year-old Lizzie McGuire alum shares 6-year-old son Luca with ex-husband Mike Comrie.
Duff announced on Instagram June 8 that she is expecting a baby girl with boyfriend Matthew Koma. “Guess what guys!” she captioned a pic of herself and her beau. “@matthewkoma and I made a little princess of our own and we couldn’t be more excited!!!!!!”
The “Come Clean” singer shared that Luca already has the perfect moniker picked out for his younger sibling. “We’re up for any kind of suggestions, but Luca thinks Cafont Croissant is, like, the coolest name,” Duff said during her June 11 appearance on The Late Late Show With James Corden.
She added: “When I just refer it as ‘Cafont,’ and I’m like, ‘That would be so cool, nobody at school’s gonna be named Cafont.’ He’s like, ‘Croissant. Cafont Croissant.’ It, like, goes together, there’s no separating the two.”
While Duff divulged that Luca is just now “warming up to the idea” of having a sister, she is thrilled to be having a daughter. “I was so nervous beforehand because I thought for sure I was going to have a boy,” she confessed on KIIS-FM’s On Air With Ryan Seacrest on June 12. “I have a boy already — which would have been great, and I’m obsessed with Luca — but I just wanted one of each.”
