Kelly Clarkson sleeps with one eye open. “Literally having children has brought fear to my life,” the mom of River, 3, and 19-month-old Remy tells Redbook in the magazine’s new cover story. “That sounds horrible, I know, but before kids I was fearless. Now I go to bed and I have nightmares of someone just grabbing my little girl and running.”

The 35-year-old explained she has a fear of not being able to protect her babies. “I’m a mama bear,” she admitted. Which is why Clarkson is glad she wasn’t there when an older child was cruel to River at the park.

“Our nanny told me . . . that she just crumbled,” the “Love So Soft” singer told Redbook. “I wouldn’t have handled that well. I totally went off on that 6-year-old in my head.”

Clarkson recently revealed that after two difficult pregnancies, she and husband Brandon Blackstock are done growing their family. (The three-time Grammy winner is also stepmom to Blackstock’s children from a previous marriage, Savannah, 16, and Seth, 11.)

“Oh God, those tubes are gone!” she cracked on KTU’s Cubby and Carolina in the Morning in September. “That’s blasphemy. We don’t even speak of it. We’re both fixed in our own ways, yet we’ll still probably get pregnant again somehow.”

She added: “I always feel bad because I have friends who have a hard time getting pregnant and I”m just like guys, I have the worst pregnancies ever, It can’t happen again!”
