And one more makes 20! Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar have been granted permanent custody of their 8-year-old great-nephew Tyler Wayne Hutchins, Entertainment Tonight reports.
According to court documents obtained by the site, the 19 Kids and Counting stars filed an emergency custody petition on August 26 and were granted permanent custody of Tyler on November 21.
The Duggars' attorney, Travis Story, argues in the documents that Tyler’s mother, Rachel Hutchins, who is Michelle’s niece, allegedly "recently exhibited a pattern of behavior demonstrating that she is presently unable to meet Tyler’s health, safety, and other needs," and that she is “unemployed, has no means of transportation and is currently on probation.”
Jim Bob and Michelle are the parents of 19 kids, including adult children Jill and Jessa Duggar, who are featured on the family's spinoff Counting On.
According to the Independent Journal Review, Rachel Hutchins was arrested on felony charges for breaking and entering in April. The 23-year-old can be seen posing in multiple photos with the famous TLC family in snaps posted to the Duggars' Facebook page.
Tyler is also featured on their Facebook page. In a photo posted on November 24, the boy smiles from ear to ear while holding a pocketknife engraved with his name.
Counting On airs on TLC on Tuesdays at 8/7c.
