The butterfly effect. Kylie Jenner’s fans are still in awe that the new mom named her baby daughter Stormi Webster. Now, some are sharing a new theory they believe is the reason why the reality star chose that name.
Ever since Jenner, 20, revealed her newborn daughter’s name on Tuesday, February 6, fans have been tweeting that they believe the name Stormi was inspired by the chaos theory, which suggests that a mere flap of a butterfly’s wings can change the weather or cause a storm. Butterflies have been symbolic during Jenner’s relationship with boyfriend Travis Scott, including the diamond butterfly choker-necklace the rapper, 25, gave her for her birthday last August, and the song he released in May 2017 shortly after they started dating, titled “Butterfly Effect.”
In the 11-minute video the beauty mogul shared about her pregnancy on Sunday, February 4, there were also scenes that included the baby’s nursery, which is decorated with butterflies.
“A storm can be caused by a minute localized change in a complex system. That’s known as the butterfly effect,” one Twitter user wrote on February 6.
“Stormi” is short for Storm. A storm can be caused by a minute localized change in a complex system. That’s known as the butterfly effect. Butterfly in Spanish is Mariposa…

Another user tweeted: “Theory… Kylie named her baby Stormi because of the butterfly effect… the beat of a butterfly’s wings can set off a storm miles away 👶🏼 🦋 #Stormi #KylieJenner.”
“Stormi. Butterfly effect. the flap of a butterfly can ’cause’ a hurricane, Ky and Travis are the butterfly, they flapped their wings and now Stormi is the hurricane. U welcome,” another wrote on February 7.
The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star has been sharing the flower arrangements she’s been receiving from loved ones. She posted Snapchat photos on Thursday, February 8, of a butterfly made out of roses and another that spelled out “Stormi” in front of framed butterfly pictures hanging on the wall.
Jenner and her boyfriend welcomed Stormi, who weighed 8 lbs 9 oz., on Thursday, February 1. Before the announcement and before the child was even born, other social media users had already predicted that the Lip Kit maven would name her daughter Stormi.
“I’m predicting it now, @KylieJenner and @trvisXX baby’s name will be Stormy RT if you agree #prediction,” one user tweeted on January 1. Another fan tweeted on January 12, ”@KylieJenner is in labor rn. I can feel it. Storm is coming!!!!!!”
The reality star finally confirmed her pregnancy on Sunday, February 4, with a lengthy Instagram post explaining why she kept it private.
“My pregnancy was one I chose not to do in front of the world. I knew for myself I needed to prepare for this role of a lifetime in the most positive, stress free, and healthy way I knew how,” she wrote. “Pregnancy has been the most beautiful, empowering, and life changing experience I’ve had in my entire life and I’m actually going to miss it.”

Stormi is still somewhat related to the butterfly effect : “Does the flap of a butterfly’s wings in Brazil set off a tornado in Texas? “
Kylie prob should have named her Torni for more consistency, but let’s not ask for too much.— Yoj (@pasdideesputain) February 7, 2018
I finally get the connection between the butterflies and Stormi.
The Butterfly effect says that when a butterfly flaps its wings in one place it can cause a storm all the way across the world.
