A momentous occasion. Bachelor Nation‘s Bekah Martinez revealed the name of her newborn daughter and the special meaning behind it.
“Introducing… Ruth Ray De La Luz Leonard … (aka Ruthie Ray),” Martinez, 23, captioned a snapshot of her little one with the words “Baby Ruth” written out in Scrabble tiles on Friday, February 8, one day before the baby turned a week old.
The new mother then explained how she and boyfriend Grayston Leonard chose the moniker. “Ruth= Grayston’s grandmother’s name, and one of my favorite biblical stories. Hebrew for friend or companion,” Martinez wrote. “Ray= …Because Ruthie Ray is too damn cute. De La Luz= My dad’s middle name. Spanish for ‘of the light’. A tribute to my Mexican heritage. Leonard= Her Daddy’s last name.’
The reality star, who competed for Arie Luyendyk Jr.‘s affections on season 22 of The Bachelor, boasted on Tuesday, February 4, that her “heart and boobs are fuller than ever” after giving birth to the couple’s first child.
“On the morning of February 2nd, our little girl joined us earth-side and we will never be the same,” Martinez captioned a picture of the water birth on Monday, February 3. “We are all as healthy and happy as can be.”
The infant was in the ABC personality’s belly for longer than nine months, but Martinez, who announced that she and her boyfriend were expecting in September 2018, stayed strong. “I actually have super-human patience right now,” she admitted on Instagram in January. “I know my due date is Tuesday, [January 29], but I am perfectly at peace with going a couple weeks more. I trust my baby and I trust my body. He or she will come when they’re fully ready for the journey earth-side.”
